Wednesday night, 2003 bites the dust.  However you celebrate, be safe and have fun.  And, watch Clay!

Quote
The MTV celebration begins at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Clay Aiken, Hilary Duff, Ludacris and Simple Plan are scheduled to perform. Also appearing are Erika Christensen, Chingy and the cast of the WB drama "One Tree Hill."
The evening will also feature a competition among hip-hop artists. Fans voting during the event on MTV.com will determine the winner, according to the Scripps Howard News Service.
If watching hipster performers and 10,000 swaying revelers standing in the freezing cold doesn't sound as amusing as it did last year, why not tune into HBO's "Sex and the City" or "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which get 2004 started on the right foot with marathons from their latest seasons and, later in the week, the introduction of new episodes.

FACE THE MUSIC:  WINNERS AND LOSERS OF 2003

Quote
Winners:

Average Joes: Regular looking guys such as "American Idols" Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken and sad-eyed Jason Mraz ruled the charts and the airwaves and, perhaps the best indicator of success, the pages of teen-centric magazines.

TOP 10 TELEVISION SHOWS OF 2003

Quote
American Idol II

The Fox phenomenon delivered a pair of budding superstars while captivating America twice a week. Ruben Studdard outpolled Clay Aiken in the national vote of viewers, but Aiken has enjoyed more early success in media attention and prestige gigs, including getting to sing the national anthem prior to a World Series game at Yankee Stadium. His first album, The Measure of a Man, went double platinum. Studdard's initial CD, Soulful, was released later, and debuted at No. 1. Both also have TV guest shots coming up later this season: Aiken on an episode of Ed, Studdard on One on One.

DESPITE STAR COUPLES, POP CULTURE DECIDEDLY FLAT

Quote
The Fab Five of "superstar Eye for the Straight Guy" goosed the entertainment world, but even they couldn't save it from putting on the same old duds. They couldn't restyle Spears's plastic "In the Zone" or David E. Kelley's not-so-fantastic new series, "The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H." They couldn't trim the impact of "American Idol," as Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and Ruben Studdard sold millions of records and sang at any awards show that would have them. "Raggedy Andy" Aiken may have lost to Studdard, but he won more sales -- as well as the best-manners prize from the National League of Junior Cotillions.

CLAY MAKES BEST TRESSED LIST FOR 2003

Quote
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Nicole Kidman head up the 'Best-Tressed List' in 2003, according to nationally known stylist Michael Christopher Hemphill, principal of Michael Christopher Designs in Wilmington, DE. Worst-Tressed List was headed by New York City zillionaire developer Donald Trump and entertainer Michael Jackson.
(snip)
"And, as long as we're talking about such delightful stars whose escapades made the news in 2003, to be complimented for their attention-grabbing hair as well as antics are Paris Hilton, 'society's baby doll,' Brittney Spears, 'who spears it with style,' and American Idol Clay Aiken - 'well, talk about a makeover!'

LJB I noticed that...hmm.

Perhaps they really mean 'Adorable Doll Baby Clay Aiken...' or 'Rakishly Handsome Clay Aiken...'

Yeah, that's probably it.

I don't understand how Ruben is 15 and Clay is 16 on ET's top list.  It sure seemed like they did more on Clay then Ruben this year.  Oh well at least he is on the List.  Of course he is #1 with us.  Love Terry

"Raggedy Andy" Maybe because he is the "doll" we want to place on our beds

I can't believe how much ET I saw this year
I think Clay was mentioned more than Rueben too but obviously not.  I haven't seen it much this month.

Of course we'd all like that. Imagine! A little Clay doll that could sit on our beds! How cool!! That would also make sleeping with a stuffed animal totally cool, as apposed to something we stopped doing when we were all little.
