MoaM certified by RIAA as Double Platinum!!!

Quote
WASHINGTON, December 2, 2003 - On the heels of the first 'American Idol' winner's debut multi-Platinum album, second season runner-up Clay Aiken got his recording career off to a good start as well with the release of his RCA Records debut "Measure of a Man." His debut album was quickly certified Gold, Platinum and double Platinum for sales of more than two million copies according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Clay is featured in the Rolling Stone 2003 Yearbook issue.  The cover story is Justin Timberlake:  The New King of Pop, and the feature story is the years Top 50 albums.  I don't think Clay's MoaM will be on that list, considering the craptastic review they wrote; however, Clay is in the magazine somewhere because he is listed on the cover.  If anyone gets the issue (before I do) please let us know what the story is.  ThanX!

How nice to see Clay listed there on the cover with Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay.  Big time.

Clay Invites You to Visit Raleigh!

Quote
Greater Raleigh is City Life, Carolina Style. And nobody has more style than Raleigh’s own Clay Aiken. While his album, Measure of a Man, debuted at number one on the Billboard Chart and shipped double platinum, he hasn’t lost the love for his hometown. In fact, he wants more people to learn about Raleigh, so he’s agreed to send a personalized letter to up to two (2) of your friends and family, inviting them to come visit you here in the Raleigh area.

Revolution?

As it turns out, more people watched the American Idol Christmas special than watched Justin Timberlake's music special.

Sweet!

Grammy gold: Here's the scoop on who will be nominated Thursday
BY JIM FARBER
New York Daily News

Two stars who died recently, Johnny Cash and Warren Zevon, are likely to be among the most-nominated artists when this year's Grammy ballot is announced Thursday in Los Angeles.

So is Luther Vandross, who has been struggling from a stroke he suffered in April.

And then there's Lisa Marie Presley, whose claim to fame until now has been her famous father.

It won't be just sentimentality at work. Cash's "The Man Comes Around," Zevon's "The Wind" and Vandross' "Dance With My Father" represent some of the most critically admired music of the last year.

As for Lisa Marie, she faced more skepticism than any artist this year. But her debut CD went gold.

Don't expect to see any of the "American Idol" crowd getting crowned by Grammy, however.

Although Clay Aiken, Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard all enjoyed huge sales, they were anointed by the public rather than the industry, whose members make up the voting body.

UNC-C may prosecute students who scalp graduation tickets
12/3/2003 11:20 AM
By: Associated Press

(CHARLOTTE) -- Officials at UNC-Charlotte say they'll consider prosecuting students who try to scalp tickets to the December graduation ceremony that "American Idol" star Clay Aiken is expected to attend.

State law says anyone who sells a ticket for more than $3 over its face value is guilty of a misdemeanor. Tickets to the December 20th ceremony are free.

Krista Newkirk is the associate general counsel for the university. She says she is sending a letter to the online auction Web site e-Bay, telling its operators of the law.

She says the university is investigating the sale of one ticket for a reported $103.

REMINDER:

Quote
Clay was recently interviewed by Singapore radio station Perfect 10 and the interview will be aired on Thursday, December 4th at 3pm, 9pm and Friday, 2am (local time?).

The DJ actually asked Clay to sing a little of Invisible, acapella. He did.
Here's the link to the station:

www.perfect10.com.sg

Click on "DJ on Air now" to stream.

This is the same station that had the world premiere of 4 songs from Measure Of A Man in October. The DJs are very, very supportive of Clay.
