PERMASWOONED

Hello everyone!!! I am at the Mesa Marriott for anyone else who is here and wandering around. Anyone want to have lunch later? PM me or I'm registered under Walker. Happily, they did not care that my brand new Texas debit card is made out to Preferred Customer....as long as it went through as having a balance, I guess they don't care!! I still can't believe I left my credit cards sitting on my desk at home. Unlike Clay in his new interview, I did have cash, but you cannot function without plastic. I would not even have been able to check my suitcase at DFW yesterday without my spanking new debit card, so many thanks again to jclay for taking me to the bank for 30 minutes of her life she'll never get back, and to Darrell of the Arlington B of A for helping me out.

After the concert Tuesday night I got to spend time visiting with people and then going to eat with more friends. Dining tip: the Black and Bleu burger at Humperdinck's (I think that's were we were....anyone???) is the best burger I have ever eaten in my life. Maybe food tastes better when you eat it with friends???

I have been running on adrenaline for about 3 weeks. Work stuff, medical stuff, visits from out of town family, and two deaths of people very close to me have just worn me to a nub. When I got here to Mesa yesterday I pretty much crashed, so I have not gotten to post about my trip to Texas, my "National Inclusion Project" charity M&G or the concert. I'm going to try to organize my thoughts a bit better and then post more. Suffice it to say, it was all amazing...I loved every moment. I had my very best concert seats EVER...dead center first row, as promised in the auction. This is the first time I've ever entered one of the charity auctions, and I never in a million years thought I would win. I got to take my dear friend California Clayfan with me who has been such an avid fan but had never had a M&G, which was so fun for me. Her picture is going to be gorgeous...I was sitting behind Mary when she took it and could see the screen...so that made it even more special for me.

I ended up getting a new camera right before the trip, which is scary. My old camera was starting to develop a lot of problems, like the zoom not working and too much lag on the focus. I was madly studying the online manual and setting it up for a couple of hours before the concert. OMG!!!! It sure did an amazing job!! I can't really edit pictures on my netbook...the screen is shaped wrong and it's too small, so I may not be able to post pictures til I get home, but I got some lovely stuff.

artquest has cousins who live here, so I may not see her until right before the concert. We'll see.

More recap as I remember things.

Hi Marilyn and Tiffany - I don't know if I can stay awake for the whole show but I am here right now.

I really hate to see this tour end.  Even though I only saw one show, it was a special evening and I love the way he cut back on the size of the band and only having Quiana.  That way we got more of the gorgeous voice we are here to listen to anyway.

Hey Barb. I know it's a late one. They are on mountain time. 2 hours behind. SF on Saturday will be 3 hours but it's good it's on a weekend anyway.

Agreed Really happy I got to see it at least once too. It's what he does best and what we wanted for him. Sing amazing, be funny and interact with the audience. Said the other night this tour is #4 on my list of favorites tours.

They were discussing this earlier- they said the best was in Minneapolis with Fort Wayne being close to as magnificent.

That would be a good one to download

Marilyn, I'll sure add those suggestions to the list.  Thanks

The interview in AZ today is a great interview.  Thanks for find it Tiffany

He says this is the first time he got this far without messing up the words

But it usually takes later for someone to drunkenly call out a song to sing

He's telling the Johnny Depp story again....

Out of all the songs why does everyone want him to sing BOTW? UGH I like the way he sings it but at least request Everything I Don't Need even though he's not going to do it anyway. LOL

Someone in audience calling out songs. He asks them how many (drinks) they've had. I heard Bridge Over Troubled Water being called out. He tells them that he will do Invisible. Begins jazzy medly of his songs.

He did the shirt tug and I heard a lady say "Yeah Baby!!" It also sounded like he kissed the mic at the end!

Something about us

From CH
he talked to Be-Bop, Jan's hubby! Said after 50 yrs of marriage he will go anywhere with her =-something like that anyway......

I think he said it is easier to just go with her. And I think Clay said "That's bullshit!"

Did you hear what that man yelled out?

Sounded like do Invisible.

It sounds funny hearing a man yell out. It's usually a woman.

He yelled Bridge Over....!!!

I noticed a lot of the time when that is yelled out on this tour, it is a guy.

I don't think he ever said he didn't like it but I can understand why that song doesn't fit on this tour. A Jazzy medley version would had been cool though.

Clay was talking about he and Quiana needing to be on their own side of the stage just like couples have their own side of the bed. Then he mistakenly said they were on their own side of the bed--then he corrected himself and said “the stage.” Then he said about the audience something like, “They know better.”

Clay was talking about he and Quiana needing to be on their own side of the stage just like couples have their own side of the bed. Then he mistakenly said they were on their own side of the bed--then he corrected himself and said “the stage.” Then he said about the audience something like, “They know better.”

 Mind in gutter.  ;)

Number of men in the audience - said married 50 years . Clay asked him why he came to the concert and the guy said- Its what he had to do to get laid.

Clay said what? And the guy said something more innocuous and thats when Clay said "Thats Bullshit"

Then after the last song Clay turned to him and said "You're a wise man"

The gentlemen in the first couple of rows thought it was awesome. There was a guy in his fifties that sang along to every song.

Hair sticking out and looked fine. All she could see were his cheekbones and the holes in his jeans. Boots-

just have to third this statement. The power is totally unbelievable. I am still in awe. Whole concert was amazing, I didn't want it to end......and I finally love "Love Story." OMG! Hearing it live is just beyond words. Completely changes my opinion of that song. UNCHAINED MELODY was unworldly. WOW!WOW!WOW! I talked to several NJU tonight and though they have loved Clay since Idol they have not seen him much since. Needless to say, they were blown away tonight. Two of the older couples had seen PBS special and then and ad in the paper so they were very excited about seeing him again. Two of the ushers a man and a woman were anxious to hear him as they had never heard him sing. Didn't get to talk to them after, but I have a feeling they were impressed. One lady said she had a whole new respect for him.
I saw people asking the ushers if there was anything for sale after the concert, and they were disappointed there was not a merch table. I have a feeling a few cds will be selling on Amazon.

It was a perfect night, my only concert. Can't wait for the next chapter in Clay's life. Oh yeah, he is not "pitchy,' that was hilarious.
Not much at recapping, but just wanted to say how much I loved this concert. Can't wait to dl and listen again. We went to the bus, came out fairly quickly tonight, not too big a crowd and he looked adorable, he had crop pants on! We got a 2 second hand touch, longer than the last one I had many years ago. I love him more.

More later. Oh wow, still floating.

There have been a few perfect WDIBs on this tour. The baubles I've heard have all been quickly recovered from small cracks during the mid-range notes. I've never heard him crack on the big notes in the last third of the song. The problems I've had with some of the perfect videos of this are fans making strangled sounding whoo-hoos, and things like that, which mars a performance for me. Fort Wayne was one of the great ones, but I get too much audience interference in what I've listened to so far. Sarasota is the one that gets to me, the mime-fan audio of it. Her microphone is good enough to make it sound CD quality. The two I saw from the front row - Houston and Grand Prairie - both ran through me like arrows, and if there were imperfections, they didn't matter. The cracks make more of an impression in the clack than in the live performances, at least for me.

In Grand Prairie, I do remember saying out loud, "That was perfect" after Misty. That one is just as beautiful on video as I remember it from a few feet away. I thought his voice had the most gorgeous tone that night. And his eyes and mouth were doing all kinds of things that were nice to look at. I do know that I enjoyed the Grand Prairie concert more than any I've ever seen, because I was so thoroughly entertained on several levels, and I was privileged to see, up close, in perfect detail, every nuance of every expression I've ever loved on Clay's face. Some of them I recognized from all the way back to Idol. He was turned on, vocally and expressively. He was romantic as all get-out. His body language was whatever he wanted it to be, and oh did it ever speak to me. He IS a comic actor, regardless of his denials. His selections for Who's Sorry Now make it clear that he can rock, and he likes to sing rock (how many times has his audience choice been some form of rock music), but I'm not sure he believes that it's for him, or that the public would accept it for him. He thinks he's being funny, and he does make it funny sometimes, but he's damn good at it. He has a perfect voice for rock and especially heavy metal, as crazy as that may sound. But, he may be the last person on Earth to take himself seriously as a rock singer. I absolutely think he may be the last to know. But he'll get to it, eventually. Could he be too self-conscious to embrace it, at least for one album, because it's out of his tried and true lane? He's made believers out of us -- he MUST know.

GP was the best seat I'll ever have. I've had a few front rows before, had one in Houston in February, but this was the perfect distance from the stage, and at the perfect stage height to get a full body view, down to the toes, and without obstruction. I spoke to him and he repeated my words. "Her husband came home." Nothing will beat that. He made me laugh -- not polite laughter, but the heavy-duty kind that hurts. I'm not trying to brag about this, because I lucked into it, and I'm sure I'll never have that seat again. I walked out on a cloud, because that's what he does to me. I'm really happy about being in the Clay Aiken state of mind cult. It's a great little nirvana that hangs around for days. I feel fortunate to be susceptible to going under his "dancing spell."

Pngndancer says hi!
she will do a red report later.
I can't do red on my phone but let me just say:

Clay is skinny y'all!

But seriously tonight was unfrigging believable. In great voice.

In one sentence: he sings with his entire body. Clack doesn't give u the entire experience that is Clay Aiken.

More later. We're at a bar!

MORE

OK quick recap (cuz I had a beer at the bar after the show and I don't drink - ha so not sure how this will come out)

I saw lots of Cv-ers but afraid I will forget a name so just HELLO to all!

CLAY AIKEN WAS BORN TO BE ON THE STAGE!

I am no fan of the Love Story Theme but when he starts to sing it, it is mesmerizing. That voice, those hands, that body, wow.

Basically in a nutshell, he sings with his entire body and it just really hit me hard tonight watching him that there is only one more show. HE NEEDS TO BE ON THE STAGE.

Before the show someone stopped me in the lobby. It was Jackie, a young gal I met in LA last year at the Ruben-Clay m&g. She had him sign her ankle that day so she could get a tattoo. We chatted. She had brought a date to the show and it was just sweet to see her there. I also sat next to another young gal and her mom and they knew the words to every song. Well during the show Clay called Jackie out for the tattoos she has and the tongue piercing! haha Small world.

Anyway he was really pissed off about the review that said he was pitchy and told us to all spam the reviewer. Too funny and yet I think he has a right to call someone out - call Clay Aiken anything you want - but pitchy is downright stupid. I loved that he did that.

His voice was top notch and FILLED the venue. Great acoustics there. Entire band did terrific. So much better to hear it all and see it all in person.

It's hard to describe what it is like to see him sing live. The jeans are too baggy and frayed He has obviously lost weight and looks incredibly fit. The voice broke in a couple of songs but the POWER WITH A CAPITAL P of his voice makes you forget that.

The clack is helpful to get a feel for a show and certainly to capture the tours he does. (I sat with Scarlett and hour before the show - it was terrific to spend a little time with her. Lovely lady). HOWEVER....

HE HAS TO BE SEEN LIVE. He is so much more than an album, a youtube video or an interview.

I got the whole package tonight and I am spent.

Waow.

JAN-WHATEVER

Back from the Mesa Concert-- Clay fog setting in. It was wonderful!

Clay talked to my husband,MrJW/Bebop after counting 11 men in the first 3 rows... asked him what brought him here and who he was with... Bebop answered "My wife!" Clay asked, "What's her name?", and one or both of us answered "Jan". I was told that Clay responded, "Jan-whatever," although I missed that myself.. I was waiting to see what Bebop was going to say.
Bebop said (off the microphone) "After almost 50 years of marriage I'd try anything to get laid". Clay said something like, "What did you say? Come up here!" Bebop stood up--we were in row 3 at the end so it was only steps from where Clay knelt down at the side of the stage-- Took a couple of steps toward Clay who said, "Say that again," and held the mic up to him. Bebop said (into the mic) "After almost 50 years of marriage I've learned it's better to just come along quietly." Clay laughed and stood up and walked back across the stage, and said into the mic, "That's not what he said, he said he'd do anything to get laid".

All of this was the reason that the audience was laughing so hard near the beginning of the concert!

This is as close as I can remember- Maybe Scarlett got it on video. ha!
He was in such good voice-- I thought he sounded stunning throughout the concert! Oh, BoogieWoogie was what we suggested he sing!
Quiana heard us since she was right in front of us and she liked that idea and told Clay. It was really cute! Looking forward to video!

WDIB has become my new favorite song of Clay's. So beautiful and what some might call over- the -top, sounds beautifully passionate and powerful to me! I got tears in my eyes hearing and watching him sing it live, and I am not one to cry easily.

The "pitchy" banter was really funny- we got to see pissed -off Clay! Worth the ticket right there! Haha!
Clay did Beat-box during the WSB shtick-- it was suggested by the girl next to me.. I am sorry I can't remember her name.. don't think she posts here. Quiana did the beat -box part and Clay jumped around like a rapper holding his crotch and rapping into the mic! Hilarious!!

After the concert we met up with the lovely artquest, gareem, Permaswooned, canuck, and smartypantssuz! We had a drink and a snack and a great time chatting. artquest said the TheMac Geezer had his own response to Bebop's comment.. but that is hers to share...LOL!

I want to do it all again. *sob*

SKYBAR22

Mesa Recap:

I want to give a big thank you to my concert buddies, toofargone and kocopelli. I had met tfg once, years ago and had never met koco before. They have been traveling to see Clay together for years now so I was concerned about feeling a little left out. NO WAY! They totally embraced me and they pushed me around in my wheelchair with warmth and acceptance. I felt like I was with old friends who really cared about me. Thank you both so much for making it possible for me to get to this concert. I had a blast with you both. MUAH!!!

I got home about 2 hours ago and am just unwinding. I will attempt a recap but I am pretty wired while at the same time exhausted. I love Clay.

He is so easy to love over and over again. He reminded everyone there why they became a fan. His voice was front and center all night and he was on, so on. He doesn't miss a thing.

It's interesting to me when people comment about him missing a note or not being 100% perfect because to me, his singing is perfection, even if he "cracks" or misses. In all my years, after I have no idea how many times I have seen live performers, I have never experienced anyone as consistently good as Clay Aiken. The total experience of LIVE Clay cannot be easily put into words. I'm having some trouble doing it.

I am not able to attend multiple shows and this is only the 5th time I have seen Clay live. Because of that, it is always a very special experience for me, one which I always cherish and savor for a long time after the show ends. I have been a loyal fan since "take" and can't ever imagine not loving Clay.

It was a great show and he does give his all. Clay is a consummate performer. It would be hard not to appreciate the pure talent of this man, even if one didn't like the genre of this particular CD. I am glad that I like the music too. I was dead center in the front row, a first for me and it was glorious. I was in heaven for the two hours. Truly a blissful experience for me and because it has not happened before, I will never take it for granted nor will I ever cease to appreciate the man and his talent. Yum!!!

I was swooning, bopping in my seat, closed my eyes a few times and just took it in, and I so appreciated all of it. His humor, charm, and wit were all on display. He looked at me a few times, not in any kind of acknowledgement but just while he was doing what he does, so effortlessly and I melted a bit each time. I can't explain it really but he has a gift I have seldom been privileged to see. He is so real and natural. Coming out to the world has added something to his comfort level and it shows. I love how easy it is for him to joke about it all. He just integrates it all so well, a major characteristic of a Sagittarian.

His voice was so beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the nuances of his facial expressions as well as how he caressed the mic with his beautiful, long fingers. The sensuality of this man's performance coupled with the glorious vocals took me somewhere I have never been before. I do not know when I will see him again live but I know I will. He isn't going anywhere. He was made for this and he knows it too.

Quiana is a classy gal. I thoroughly enjoyed her too. She is pure joy on that stage, a friend and a gift to Clay. They are so comfortable with one another. The Klezmer shtick was hilarious with Clay doing the Yiddish accent and Quiana "oying" and "mazel toving". This Jewish gal loved it.

Clay is so gracious to all of the performers on stage with him. He gave each their props. I really loved watching Felix do his thing. They are all a talented bunch and Clay appreciates each one of them. It shows.

The pitchy shtick was great. Never tell Mr. Aiken he is pitchy when it is so far from reality. Pitchy he is not. He may crack on a note once in a while but man, he is so good and covers it up well. His minor imperfections are nothing compared to most performers.

UM was divine. He carries that audience with him and we all soared together.

I also loved Crying. They sounded so good on that, the two of them knowing eachother so well and singing together with such tenderness. It is a beautiful song and I have always loved it.

All in all Clay has grown. His voice is richer, fuller, more powerful and controlled. He is comfortable on the stage like he knows he belongs there. I doubt he is giving this career up anytime soon. I look forward to what he has coming up next.

Now, to Janwhatever and her hubby. What a hoot. That was a very funny exchange Mr. JW aka Be Bop.

Thanks for seeking me out Jan and Permaswooned. Wish I could have gotten up and mingled a bit but I couldn't. I would have loved to meet more of you but we had to drive back to Tucson and it was going to be very late if we stayed.

Sorry this was so rambling. I'm tired and just wanted to share now while I'm still feeling the effects of a Clay Aiken show.

Bear with me. I don't do recaps very well but re/my meet and greet all I can say is OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG. Seriously though, it started out as a real nightmare. The meet and greet email said to be at the box office. Okey dokey! Mesa has something like 6 box offices. After a while we found a very nice girl who worked there and finally got us to the correct box office. They were runninng late. Finally Jerome takes us in (there were about 9 of us). Okay, you probably have already had recaps but here goes. Clay (to the best of my recollection) was wearing his dark blue UConn hoodie, pants that looked like cut off sweats that came to mid calf, his tennies without socks, of course and his hair was a little spiked. He was in a great mood and lots of questions asked. I didn't have one but they asked some that had already been asked. He smelled wonderful and felt great and yes I did remember to lean in. We had one gal in our M&G who had him sign her ankle the last time she saw him and she had it tatooed, then she also had Claymate tatooed on the back of her neck, along with a tongue piercing that had a stud with Clay's face on it!

The concert was marvelous and the accoustics were absolutely phenomenal. I'm sure you've heard about how he felt about the "pitchy" write up from Dallas. He really was funny on that one. I can't say enough about how great he sounded. Oh and due to have an extremely small bladder I had to get up at one point (very quickly I might add) and go to the rest room. I didn't miss a thing, he was piped right in there. So I'll let others write more because my writing skills suck but he never disappoints and last night he proved again why we all still love him after all these years

Really enjoyed reading those recaps. Totally agree with Shelley that he's born to be on stage. Off to watch the clack. The pitchy talk sounds hilarious. Love Pissy Clay. Pitchy he ain't. Smarty got gorgeous pics. *thud*

My Mesa M&G

After much confusion over multiple boxes offices at the Mesa Arts Center and a late dinner time for Jerome, the nine of us we were finally checked in, given our passes and organized into a procession which was led by a rep from the venue and guarded at the rear by Jerome. We were taken to a room where white wooden folding chairs were arranged in a U-shaped pattern. We filled out the first two thirds of the U, our seat assignments predetermined by Jerome’s master list. As he left to go get Clay we talked amongst ourselves

A few minutes later Clay walked in said hello to the room as he made his way over to us. Dark blue(?) UCONN sweatshirt, calf length sweat pants, no socks, shoes of some kind, I assume, and hair similar to how it was styled that morning on TV. Beautiful skin, the man glows. He asked each of us our name and repeated it back as he shook our hands. My first impression as someone who has never met Clay before is that he is much more substantial than I expected. Tall and thin, but not in a scrawny way. Solid but without a trace of fat. His handshake was impressively firm (I hate wimpy handshakes from either men or women) and there was no doubt that the boss was now in the room. As one fan gave her name (two syllables), he picked up on her accent immediately and asked where she was from (NZ). As in a previous m&g, he made the comment that his favorite movie was a New Zealand film. One other fan was from NZ also.

Clay took a seat in front of us just as Jerome was passing out post-it notes so we could let Clay know how we wanted our items signed. Clay glanced over and cracked on him, surprised that this hadn’t been handled already and commenting that they were behind schedule. Jerome may have blamed it all on Mary (who had followed Clay into the room) at this point, but it was all done in fun and it was great to experience the easy relationship between the three of them.

Aiken fog started to settle in right about then, so I’ll just touch on a few of the questions I remember. These are out of order.

He called one fan out right away for bringing her knitting into the m&g. He wanted to know why, other than to get his attention, she couldn’t put it down for a few minutes.

Someone asked who arranged love story?
Ben

Has he ever been asked to model or endorse a men's fashion line?
No
From someone else - How did he get internet in West Texas(?)
He wanted to know how she knew he had internet in W. Texas?
Quiana’s tweet.

I didn’t actually hear the question, but someone asked him something about his plans to record.
No plans right now, he hates it. Boring

I asked if it’s because he doesn’t want to have to deal with deciding which direction to go in next? Does genre make any difference.

Personal opinion here - he may understand our curiosity, but he appeared to be very tired of answering this question. He was pretty abrupt when repeating that he doesn't enjoy the process. All genres are boring. It was such a blanket statement, it seemed to be his way of shutting the topic down.

Is he going to be working with Harry Connick anytime soon?

The way he answered this is so open to interpretation, I’m not going to even attempt to guess at hidden meanings. He acted like he had no idea what the woman was talking about, and appeared to get frustrated (almost to the point of annoyance) when the rest of us either laughed quietly or looked uncomfortable. He asked us if we knew what she was talking about and most of us nodded and then asked us to explain it all to him and I admit I shook my head no. I wasn't comfortable with the conversation. He finally pinned pngndancer, who was sitting at my left, with the Aiken stare and told her to talk. Eeeks. She explained the question referred to Harry being cast in OACD. Clay definitely smirked when asking if he (Clay) would be playing the BS role. I immediately piped in that it had been recast as a male role and he looked intrigued before asking exactly who is saying he‘ll be doing this. I kept saying it‘s just fan speculation, that's what we do in between Clay projects, but there was so much cross talk at this point, who knows what he heard. As he was putting his chair away and getting ready to start picture taking, he said something about any questions that are specifically about whether he‘s in this, or going to do that, are wasted. I may not remember every word he said during the OACD discussion, but I have a very clear memory of his face and demeanor as he was responding. Unfortunately, I don't know his well enough to come to know if he was acting or surprised by it all.

Stealing a question that I read on the boards last week I asked him who he thinks should be People’s next sexiest man alive. On the up side, I think I caught him off guard. On the down side, he wouldn’t give me a straight answer. First, he looked perplexed, then he said Jerome or Mary. I tried.

Young girl with the tattoos who brought a young man as her guest asked him why hasn’t returned to Vegas to perform. He had only toured there once. He said he had been to a lot of places just once, and something about there being too many shows in Vegas to compete with. The northeast had always worked the best for them. He talked a little abut the cost of touring, especially when they had to cover long distances.

The young man in our group waiited for a quiet moment as Clay was signing things to ask “Clay, what’s your favorite color?” Right away Clay asked him if his friend put him up to that and smirked when the young man said yes. Clay then explained that he can never say what his favorite color is now because he has gotten in the habit of using it as part of his password when signing up for things. When it was time for this guy’s photo with Clay, Clay asked if they wanted to include his girl friend in the shot and he said no, but he wanted to take the photo back to back. Clay seemed to get a kick out of that. As they posed back to back, Clay crossed his arm in a cool, tough guy kind of pose and the young man smiled and gave the camera two thumbs up. I’d love to see a copy of this, it was adorable.

So here starts my best recollection of the tattoo interaction. If you were there and remember it differently, please feel free to correct me. After the photo taking was done, the young lady from Vegas mentioned to Clay that she had had a previous m&g several years ago and he had signed her ankle. We were all still obediently sitting in our pre assigned white wooden folding chairs so she lifted her left foot a little and turned it inward a bit to show him the tattoo just above her ankle. She was wearing a cute skirt and top and strappy high heels. Standing right in front of her now, Clay bent over and craddled her ankle in his right hand as he studied the tattoo. I think the words “You go, girl!” ran through my head at that point. I don’t remember exactly what was being said right then, but as Clay released her ankle and stepped back, she stood up and asked him if she could show him her other tattoo. Funny thing is, as I remember it, her hands were causally by her side, close to the hem of her top as she said this. Clay gave her the funniest look. Mr. Large and In Charge was assessing the situation. When her hands rose up a little more, I could just imagine where he thought the next tattoo was located because he looked like he might say no. In fact, I think he was shaking his head to say maybe not, when the young lady’s friend piped in that it wasn’t anything to worry about. Her hands continued up to the back of her neck and she lifted her hair and turned around to show him the Claymate tattoo. A dozen hysterical expressions had passed over Clay’s face by now, but nothing could compare to when she swung back around and showed him her tongue piercing. Perfect comedic double take, followed immediately by an ewwww as he turned away. He turned back just as quickly and asked to see it again. He was stunned when she said it was a picture of him. He had to look closer. He was grinning from ear to ear with what I swear there was a look of horrified pride on his face. It was a very cute interaction and a great way to end the m&g. We were all still grinning and laughing when Clay left the room. Much to our delight, Clay came rushing back in less than a minute later with Mary in tow. It seems that Mary left the room before the young lady showed Clay her piercing and he really wanted Mary to see it. Wasn’t too surprised to hear him use the story in the show.

A couple quick comments about the show because this is already long enough. My best friend and I had a blast. I looked over and caught her crying during Moon River. It has been one of her favorite songs since she was a small child and she thought his performance was just beautiful. Her favorite, hands down, was UM. She could not believe the notes he was hitting. As a casual, non internet fan, she was unspoiled and just adored his voice and his humor. She took quite a bit of clack with her new camera and said it was very difficult to keep the camera steady when he was so unbelievably funny just a few feet in front of her. Kudos to all you clack gatherers who have spoiled us over the years.

Boogie Woogie was pure Elvis with the deep notes and shaking legs.
At one point, when Quiana was standing next to Clay, she put her finger through the hole in the back pocket of his jeans. So cute.

skybar & kokopelli and friends, I'm so sorry to have missed hanging out with everyone. I was with my cousins most of the day and then tied up doing the cellcert, so I didn't get a chance. It was a fabulous concert and as I said somewhere above, a sublime performance. Not as funny as this summer's Timeless Tour, but so very lovely in its own way.

My cousins were thrilled with the music and the comedy and the personality. As my older cousin (mid eighties) said, "I knew all the words to all the songs. I loved it!" Her daughter refers to Clay as "the cutie", so she was already on board. *g* I just loved sharing him with people I knew would love the show. It worked out great.

There was a very loud, very enthusiastic fan sitting behind me to my left. She/he kept shouting to Clay to sing Bridge over Troubled Waters. He played off it for awhile and then ignored her. However, when he started to sing Invisible, he came over to our side of the stage, positively leered at her, and sang, "Whatcha doing tonight?" Cracked me up. Permaswooned has a shot of the leer. (I'll try to cap one from the video and post it later.) Hysterical.

We had dinner tonight with Spotlightlover. She's hoping to come to the concert tomorrow night with her husband, Big Mike. It will be his very first Clay concert!

Now Perma and I are catching up on the boards and relaxing. We're going to get a nice brunch and then hit some of the sights in SF. I'm leaving that up to her as she is the best of travel agents and tour guides. In the meantime, we upgraded our room to a lovely suite for an additional $20 and got free yummy adult beverages in the lobby as we sat by the fire and waited to check in. GREAT hotel.

I love this cult.

I love reading all the wonderful recaps and sat down to write mine on the Mesa concert.

I just found there are not words to describe the whole wonderful experience!! Thanks to a wonderful friend (you know who you are)
I was in the 2nd row. At first I thought it too close - yes, I need my head examined!!! I was in a trance - his voice was PERFECT,
his humor was side splitting. I realized afterwards that I had a goofy grin on my face for almost 2 hours. I sometimes tend to
be too reserved, but believe me I am feeling everything - feeling it deep down. It's almost if I try to put it in words I will
never be able to give it the power it deserved. This man walks out and the world becomes a place where beauty and joy
exists. He has a talent that can't be put into words and a talent that needs to be experienced live.

A big thank you to my traveling companions - I would have never had the honor to know such wonderful women
without Clay - you all are special. A HUGE THANK YOU to the most gracious and fun hostess. Thank you for
sharing your beautiful home (and that CLACK collection), but most of all thank you for making the 3 days
a memory I will carry with me always.

I hope the concert tonight is as special as Mesa and I'm sure it will be. Have fun everyone!
