Title: Welcome! New "Official" Forum Discussion
Post by: Michael on March 20, 2010, 12:43:49 AM
Hello Everyone,

You are welcome to register and take the new website for a test drive.  You will notice it is very similar looking to the old site.  All the software has yet to be installed (i.e. TinyPortal) so not all the features are up yet.  This is strictly to let everyone see what the "Feel" of the forums will be.  The new forum upgrade is MUCH faster, MUCH MORE features and MUCH MORE secure that will allow the admins / moderators to protect the website much easier in the future.

Michael

P.S. Since the new website is working SO well,  I have decided to make it official.  This will be the URL and forums we will start using as soon as the move process is over.

The time wasn't correct when I first logged in (East Coast here), but I went into the Profile settings and selected Auto Detect and it's fine now.

Good Morning!

I am in after figuring out what I was supposed to do.  Not you, Michael, just me not reading everything correctly!!  I will see what the date and time says for me.

The date is correct, but the time is two hours earlier than Central Time (Daylight Savings Time).

THANK YOU, MICHAEL!!  YOU ARE THE BEST!!
Title: Re: Welcome to the Test Site!
Post by: Pamela on March 20, 2010, 11:19:05 AM
Ladies, click on PROFILE at the top of the form, then select LOOK AND LAYOUT.  Where it says TIME OFFSET click on AUTO DETECT.  Save changes and the time should then be correct.

You can change other settings in your profile too, as well as download an avie.

Thanks, Pamela - I changed my time and added my AVIE - will amke other changes to my Profile later.

At the very top of the page left hand side,  you will see it say something like "Hey, GWENN,  you have 0 messages, 0 are new" or something like that.  Click on the word MESSAGES and it will take you to your inbox OR you can click on "My Messages" in the menu bar across the top of the forum.

Hi!  I'm here, too.

MICHAEL, thanks for spoiling us with these fancy new "digs".  I think MICHELLE and PAMELA have a lot to do with this, as well!

Good to see all of us "under one roof" for a change.  Just like old times!

Back to sniffling and sneezing with yet another cold.  I think I was a bit too cocky last week when were enjoying our warm early spring weather.  No jacket most of the week.  The results:  AAACHOOO!

The only way you can bring it over here is if you have it saved on your computer or you remember where you got it from and download it from that URL.  Unfortunately you cannot "right click and save" your old avie from the other forums.

Use this link to go back to the old forum:

http://www.claymaniacs.com/forums

The original forum is still there.  I would suggest that any threads, posts, pics etc you want to save should be added to the archive section here in order to keep the current discussions well, current.

It may be possible to keep the old site open but locked to any new activity.  That way, it can be accessed for info and old times' sake, but no current posts can be made there.

Just a thought; Michael will have to answer that question.

SO, I AM NOT SURE EXACTLY WHERE TO POST.  BOTH PLACES?  SHOULD WE ALL JUST MOVE HERE?  IDEAS?

Great idea Pamela,  lets look into seeing it is possible to lock all boards there.  I already have a redirect when you type www.claymaniacs.com to come to the new forums in place.  We will be leaving up the old forums for some time,  but we will need to deal with the security issue there very soon.  We cannot afford to have the FBI investigate a harmless website like ours because some douche bag Islamic terrorist group hacked it.  We have already sustained reputation damage on the internet by having our website classified as a "Phishing" website (which I am trying to get reversed).

Unfortunatley you cannot do it as i mentioned in a previous post.  Technical reason is the old avatar is encrypted and does not allow you to "right click and save" it.  Unfortunately you need to find a new one,  or if you have it saved on your computer (Locally),  just readd it.

Philly - I did just save everything from October 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008 that was on the locked site. There are 6 weeks (October 2-November 19) that are on the emergency site. I provided a link to that ANN when we got back "home" after that 6 weeks, when Claymaniacs was down. I will go over and retrieve those ANNs some day (or someone else can), but I assume they are safe on the emergency site for now.

If I understand you, there are about 6 months of ANNs from 2009 to copy - I will work on that tomorrow, unless you want to do them yourself (or we could share!) For now, I have had enough of copying this weekend - I will start to bring ANNs over here this week as time allows.

Title: Re: Welcome! New "Official" Forum Discussion

Philly - I think (If I am reading your posts correctly) that only January-May 2009 are left to be saved for the ANN (I will check your prior posts of the locked site to make sure). I assume you are at work today, so I will go start at January 2009, and will work backward. (Or forward?)

Marilyn - I am going to start moving the ANNs over today if I have time. I saved the first months in Word by copying and pasting - I hope someone answers your question about the files saved in HTML before I get to those. There is no way I can save each individual photo posted in the ANN the last 7 years, but at least the Clay information will be brought over. I plan to post the year first in the date - not sure if this will make the years align correctly, but if not, at least readers will see right away that they are reading an older ANN.

Everything in 2008 on the locked site has been saved. As I said last night, there are ANNs on the emergency site from the two times that the regular site was down, but those will be O.K. there (they have been there for years!!!) and they can always be moved later. I think everything from the locked site is saved. I am about to go over and see how moving Threads to this site goes.................

I just posted the first two ANNs from 2003 - they are pushing the current ANNs to the back, and Avie photos are not showing up even though these were copied and pasted into Word. Original poster is shown once you open the Thread, but I am shown as the person posting now (because I am). Is there anything I can do to correct this???
Title: Re: Welcome! New "Official" Forum Discussion
Post by: Marilyn on March 22, 2010, 02:48:03 PM
I Dont think you can change it, Frankie, its how I have to post if you copy and paste. I am trying to do the oldest tour first and go from there- replicating it exactlly as it was. You will have to try to do it in date order, not here and there.
The pictures of the avi's will not come over, but you have the poster name- I deleted the number of posts and the phrase underneath for the sake of continuity and space. At least the poster is acknowledged and the date the post was made. I think that is the main thing.

ETA: I just looked at the post, and you can delete the word "enthusiastic" the number of posts, the "logged in etc" at the bottom of each post.
Maybe Michelle, Pamela or Michael have some other tips to help?? I know how buy they are.

Marilyn - I'm not too worried about all of that "little stuff" showing up, but I am worried about the current ANNs being moved down - I am going to post in order beginning with the oldest - but what about the ANNs that are being added every day? Maybe Michael of one of the Moderators will know how to make the current ANNs move to the top.

Not being a computer wizard I don't know all the ins and outs of it but Pamela mentioned keeping the other Claymanaics locked and that way we can go back and read what we want there.  If that is true why is it necessary to copy everything and bring it here which would give us duplicate.  Like SHARON said the pages are turning so fast with great speed and wonder if that will stop if we continue to bring more info here on this new site.

Loving the new digs.  8) I agree it's a new beginning for Claymaniacs like it's a new beginning for Clay!!!

Ditto on what Sharon said. Thanks MIchael, Pamela and Michelle and a big thanks for everyone saving the threads as well!!! ;D ;D ;D

I thought Lindsey said she saved the smileys. Thanks Lindsey if you did.

I PM'ed Michelle on the old board about some avie help but didn't hear from her yet. I know if Clandy was here she would big a big help with this. I tried to upload a new avie but it didn't work and said it was too big. I have no idea how to resize it. Don't have Photobucket anymore.

It's so we can have one complete, intact board, Pepe. This way, people won't have to go looking for the old Claymaniacs board to find info pertaining to Clay that happened before this week. ;)

Thanks, you are right.  There I go again just thinking of the Claymaniacs.  I am sure the vistors wouldn't know to go or be able to go to the old site and see what fun we  had and all of the members that meant so much to us.

Michael, Pamela & Michelle - thanks to all of you for all your hard work in getting this site up and running.

I thought the locked Site would eventually be gone? If not, it would have been a great idea to have just left it there  (maybe that would cost money every year?) - I am a little disappointed that the threads are not crossing over complete (as no photos), but having text only is better than nothing.

I have been thinking about the older ANNs - maybe it is time to send them to the Archives so that they will not interfere with the current ANNs???? I am out the door to get some business things done - to meet with our CPA to send the 2009 taxes off, for one thing - but I plan to spend the afternoon moving
ANNs. I don't want to move a lot of them if Moderators are going to have to delete them or move them somewhere else (such as Archives) later. I will check in here before moving any more!

Marilyn - (and other News Team members) - I am waiting for further word before moving the old ANNs. There are 2,000 days to move, and if I move just a part of them every day, the current ANN will be buried every day! For now, the ANNs are safe on my computer and on Philly's computer, so they will get moved some day.  I am sure Michael and the Moderators are working on other things, so for now I am not doing anything - just wanted to let someone know. I will be busy next week with Spring Break (grandchildren will be here) and company from out of State, so I will not be here at all.

Its all good Frankie-what I am doing is in the Archives, and I plan to put it back exactly in order, so I won't be bumping anyone
I sure hope I can finish before the next tour so that wont be bumped  :D

As for the news, there was none posted yesterday so I just posted something I read. Lets hope that there will be no blank days from now on.
As long as you and Philly have the threads, there should not be a problem putting them in later. Creating a news archive sounds good.

The other site is locked so new people won't register there only to be confused/disappointed in a couple weeks when it disappears. He also wanted everyone to go ahead and start using this new place. Michael is being extremely generous in allowing us the time he is in getting what we want moved to this new site. The old site won't always be there, it will be gone and we won't be able to go back and read or copy.

I PM'ed Michelle on the old board about some avie help but didn't hear from her yet. I know if Clandy was here she would big a big help with this. I tried to upload a new avie but it didn't work and said it was too big. I have no idea how to resize it. Don't have Photobucket anymore.

I'm sorry I wasn't fast enough in responding, Tiffany. I realize with this move there are going to be a lot of people needing assistance with getting everything squared away. Yes, I'm sure Clandy would have been a huge help if she was still here but since she isn't I'm doing the best I can to get to everyone. I'm hurt that people feel I'm not doing enough to help or can't help or that I'm not responding quick enough to requests. I am able to help anyone who needs it, if everyone is a little patient I will eventually get to everyone's help request. I can do whatever is necessary to get an avie made, sized, posted, etc. Right now my time is extremely limited due to numerous real life commitments. Every free moment I have I spend here so please be patient.

I see you now have an avie. Do you still need assistance or are you all set?

Michelle - I'm sure everyone here knows that you are swamped and we all appreciate everything you have done and are continuing to do. No one has ever mentioned it, but it seems that you have been the only Moderator for a long time - I do not know how you have managed to do all that you have done (Put applause emoticon here!!! )

Thank you for creating the ANN Archive. Now I can work on that without disturbing anyone. I did go to the "Emergency" site and wrote down all of the dates of the ANNs that are there (there are about  6 weeks of ANNs over there.) Since I can now work at  a pace that won't disturb what anyone else is doing, I will add those dates as I get to them. I will repost the three days I put into the regular ANN into the Archives - when you have time, please delete those 3 days. (I would do it myself, but I don't think I can).

Michael and Michelle - Help Again, Please!!! I have just tried to post the first 2-day (Weekend) ANN for the Archives, and received a message that the post was too long - exceeded 20,000 characters. Maybe Michael can changes things so that longer posts are allowed? If not, maybe I can divide the weekend into 2 days and the post will be accepted.

I totally understand you are busy and you do AWESOME with everything you do for us when you can. {{{{ Hugs }}}} I could have just asked if anyone else could help but they didn't. Michelle~ I just wanted you to know I certainly have appreciated all the help ,and after I saw your work schedule at The Pit, I'm surprised you have time to even come on to the board....SO THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO.

Gwenn~ I am sorry to hear about Barry. What a shame that he is having so much trouble. Hopefully the Drs will find out the problem soon, and he will get back to his old self again.

Just an update on my friend Ruth ..She is going to get to go home tomorrow..She is to be released from re-hab at 10:00 tomorrow, but theres a little bump in the road ,she is to go later in the afternoon to Duke so the Dr can check on her incision. She still has her staples in and the Dr is concerned because she has a few spots that are not healing as well as he would like..So they may have to admit her and do some corrective surgery on the area.
Thank you again for all your concern for her ,and please just continue praying that she will endure this new challenge.

OK THere is an archive called "Black Leather Pants-Hello"
Click on "New Topic" Then label it -BLPT 1st anniversary- then start copying each post and pasting  as replies to the topic.
When the first one is done, you start a new topic for the second one, and so on.

Good Morning!

I've been checking back here to see if anyone had suggestions about my ANN Archive problem - about the system refusing to post pages that are too long. (Anything over 20,000 characters). Rather than cut posts(even though a lot of those are  members thanking the news team member for the News)  I am now posting days with a lot of News as two separate posts - showing the second page witth the date and "Page 2". I ddn't know anythng else to do - if someone has a suggestion, send me a p.m. I will be working here off and on all day. The method I am using will almost double the number of ANN pages/posts.

EDIT - If anyonne know how to correct a typo in the Title of a Thread, I need to know how to do that,, too!!!  ;D

Good Morning! Happy Saturday!

I have moved about 9 months' worth of ANNs, but I am not happy with the result. I don't know a lot about computers, but I cannot understand why I can copy something to my computer and it looks exactly like the old site - photos are there (including Avies and emoticons), and the links to articles work. Then when I copy and move to this site, only text moves over, and the links do not work at all. I have also started, as more and more information was posted, copying and moving only the News articles about Clay. I would like to move over every word that every person posted, but if I do, each day will be 3-4 pages long. I have found out that pages that contain more of 130-140 KB of information have to be divided - and you just have to "guess" at where to divide the page.

Again - if anyone has information or suggestions, please post! I am not going to move any more Threads over at this time, in case there is something I can do to make it better. I will be busy with grandchildren and out of State company this week, so I will begin to move Threads over again after Easter.

Just checking in.  JBT pictures are done, now off to SRHP tour
Comparing notes, here's an update of all photos saved to date. I know you've been working on those huuuuuuuge groups of tour pics. I've been slogging away at the other non-tour areas.

Finished Galleries:
Clay on Broadway > FINISHED (Both Runs)
Clay On TV >  FINISHED  (American Idol, Parades, Performances Interviews Etc)
Favorites:  FINISHED (B&W,  Random,  Awards/Special Events}
Making a Difference > FINISHED ( BAF, UNICEF, Other)
Media Group > FINISHED ... Photoshoots, Online Media, Print Media, Video screen caps
Touched by a Fan > FINISHED  (Wallpapers & Blends, Drawing Clay)

Partially Finished Galleries:
Concerts >  NINE Galleries are done = Others, AI2 Tour, Independent Tour, Solo Tour/NAT, Joyful Noise 2004, JNT 05, JBT, JNaT 06, CITH 2007

Currently underway:
SRHP Tour (the final tour group to need saving, which you have already started)

Aaaand when those are finished, we should have them all covered, Sue! Well ... except for that 'putting them all in a new home' stage! *g* But first we'll need to have a home to put them *in*. So whenever the busy TPB can set up a new Photo Gallery, we will be ready to start loading!

I am also half way through the Solo TOur- WOW 61 concerts and LOTS of participation in the cellcerts. But it will be done by the end of the week, also.

Thank all of you for your instructions or I never would have been able to do it.

So I just finished saving page 4 of the BLPT- already saved page 5- This encompassed November 2003 to Jan 2004-I am going from oldest to newest.

Starting on page 3- there are 2480 pages to save (each thread is over 100 pages in most cases)7/04-6/05
Wilson Barb is saving page 2- there are 2564 pages to save-6/2005 -11/06
Philly is working on the most recent page 1-12/06-2/10-2475 pages to save

Its a slow process-can only do two or three threads a night- about 300 pages. The arm complains.

I only hope we have enough time to save them.
I saved lots of the smaller members corner and favorite threads just in case. Every single tour is saved.

And Wilson Barb saved the entire Critical Mass history- Love you Barb- phenomenal job!!

I have all of these saved. I will be putting them back as soon as I finish saving part of the BLPT. There is no need to post anything in there as they are closed threads, and will be part of the archives once completed.
