Jeanne~ I have been meaning to thank you for the sweet card...so thanks for being so thoughtful.

Thea~ I am so glad you like your water aerobics class. I love mine. I feel so good when I get in and really look forward to going. Its a great way to get in our exercise, and not suffer with joins aching while doing it. I had never been much for land jumping exercises, because they are so stressful on my leg joints. Also I have met some great women, our oldest is in her early 90s(good for her) and the youngest  has fibromyalgia We have several elder couples ,and we have several single older men. Usually our class has about 30-35 people. I think I told you this earlier, but the last day of each month we all get together at a local eatery, and celebrate all the B/Ds that month. We have several ladies that are in assisted living facilities, and the get togethers mean a lot to them.

Betty~ Hope that your house is drying out. I know you are getting tired of all the blowers going, hopefully that will end soon. I have certainly been thinking a lot about you.

Joann~ So glad your foot is healing nicely. That could have been a very bad injury. Does this have a moral to it?" One needs to wear shoes when cooking"! :) Hope your Mom is feeling better.

Hope you are all having a great new week, and that all is well with you,

Marlene

Forgive your enemies...it messes with their head.

I'm trying a blueberry/apple crisp for company tomorrow night!  What is everyone's favorite apple to use in something like this?

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Marlene--I "hear" you but I hate to wear shoes!  Be my luck that if I had had them on, the knife would have just pinned the shoe to the foot!   My Dad always told me to wear shoes while mowing the yard.  I wonder how a shoe would "help" getting hurt by the whirling blades or flying objects!

I bought my Easy Italian book and that was the only copy of that book on the shelf!  Glad I got it.

Thea--I went to Stein Mart on Saturday!  I love their jackets and usually get 2-3 a season for church, nice dress occasions etc.  I always find one for about $49.  They would be a lot more at the mall.
I decided, while walking around T.J. Max, to go "Italian" for my friend's birthday this weekend.  I Bought a package of Italian spices called, "Bella Italia" and made in Italy and I very nice, heavy pasta dish made in Italy to serve in from the oven or not.  I'm going to World Market ad get some Italian foods to put into the bowl and I will use that for the "wrapping" instead of a bag.
Also, I'm going to make my own b.day card and write it entirely in Italian so she can "figure out" what I said.

SHARON, just saw your post about what kind of apple is best for baking apple pies.  Usually Granny Smiths are used.  They are  green, tart and very crisp.  I haven't baked a lot of apple pies in my life, but when I have it's been with Granny Smith apples.  Good luck!

JOANN, I wish our Stein Mart were closer to us.  This one is about 20-25 miles away.  Actually I got the idea to start looking for jackets, blazers, etc. from YOU and have bought several nice ones.  I get lots of compliments because they're not the run--of-the-mill kind you see in the malls.    See?  You're one of my "fashionistas"!    ;D

Went to AWE then had to pick up some things from Sam's Club.  Then had to officially close out my mother's and my joint checking account   Then I was on the phone with my late aunt's bank to close out her account.  Luckily I was able to do this over the phone.

Now I'm ready for a nap...

P.S.  I re-read your post and noticed you are baking an apple crisp, not a pie!  Granny Smith's are still the best apples for a crisp, as well!

Thea,

Are you sure you want me for your "fashionista"?  You should see what I USUALLY have on around the house!!!!! It ain't very fashionable! ;D  My "hang around the house? wear is a WORN OUT T-SHIRT AND A PAIR OF SHORTS AT LEAST 2 SIZES TO BIG!!! ;D  My "favorite" assemble is one gray Mickey Mouse "astronaut" tee from the 1980's Epcot and a pair of black shorts.  They are "sleep wear" "yard work" wear and "watching tv" wear.

You should have seen me when I cut my foot open on Sunday!  I had stayed in my "fashionable" sleep wear (see above ) until about 2 pm.  Then, I gave Sammy a bath.  After that, I took my shower and changed into a fresh "see above" wear  to start dinner.  At about 6:00, that was the time the knife fell off the counter into my foot, you would have laughed at what you would have seen.  NO BRA-NO UNDERWEAR-JUST TSHIRT/SHORTS!  Hey, I was set for night!
While I'm trying to stop the blood flow and figuring out how I'm going to get to the ER, I'm sending Mom into my room to get a bra and underwear!  She had to hold the pressure on while I put both of them on  to get to go.  It was a scene out of Laural and Hardy, just looked like a scene mixed in with one from CSI or Criminal Minds.
I was "presentable" ;D by the time Skip and Prissy got to our house.  The nurse was kind enough to offer me a wet wash cloth to clean up the stuff from my "good" leg and foot.  I didn't take time to clean up before going to the ER.

But you still are one of my "fashionistas" because of your good taste in blazers and jackets from Stein Mart!  ;)

Good Evening!

I am feeling better, but for some reason, it's been harder to bounce back after this third chemo treatment.  I did almost finish the laundry;  just the basket with towels, washcloths, etc. left.  I put in recycling some old catalogues, ads and magazines, folded up clothes, and went with Skip on some errands (I stayed in the car) and then we went to Olive Garden for a late lunch/early dinner.  We always order our entrees to go, and eat the soup and breadsticks that go with the entrees while we are there.  We like the Pasta F a g o l i soup.  I had one bowl and Skip had three!!

Tonight is the Organic Garden Club meeting.  I want Skip to go, but I am opting to stay home.  I don't think I can sit through a meeting.  Of course, I could always get up and go set in an area at the Botanic Gardens that is like a living room with comfy sofas and chairs.

Thanks, Glory, Thea,  and others.  I am feeling better.  I'm just thinking the more chemo I get, the more it may zap me!!  :(

Thea,
I love Steinmart.  I like to wear what I call my "cat burglar" outfit!!!  Black pants and a black shell with a Steinmart jacket!!  I have actually played a wedding with the black outfit and a black jacket;  then changed to a colorful jacket for an occasion after the wedding!!   I do have a fall colored jacket that I need to pair up with brown pants and a brown shell.
Sorry we didn't get any "apple orchard Maddie pictures."  But it sounds like they did get a lot of apples.

Sharon,
Your blueberry/apple crisp dessert sounds good.  I still don't have much of an appetite, but fruit and desserts still appeal to me!

Jeanne,
Great to see you in the DWTS thread.  I love Carson.  I am voting for him, too.

JoAnn,
Congratulations on the weight loss.  I really liked your candle holder.  I didn't get to see it during the excitement of Sunday night.  And I forgot to bring your Chicken Foot domino set to you.  Too much going on.  Your name is in the October Woman's Club Courier as a new member.

I hope you all have had a good day.  DWTS results tonight.  There is an "encore" show on before the results show.  I have enjoyed this segment, too, and this may be where we see the dance they liked the best.  I am thinking it could be Ricki, but it should be J.R.   He was the best last evening.  I'm guessing it will be Chaz going home, and I think he should because he is suffering physically so much.

Hugs,
Prissy

Thank you Thea, that's what I'll buy! I don't do a lot of baking but am trying to learn!

SHARON, you're most welcome.  I hope your apple crisp turns out perfectly!  And I applaud you for working on improving your baking skills.  Al is very proud of you, I'm sure.   ;)

Oh, PRISSY.  I'm sorry but not surprised to hear that the chemo is slowing you down a bit.  It's a cumulative effect, even though (I think) most of the chemo leaves you after the first several days while the period in between chemos is for you to rebuild your strength.  I remember after my third chemo I was pretty wiped out.  Please don't get too discouraged....Once the chemo part of your breast cancer treatment is over you will start to regain some of your strength.

Are you getting "chemo fog"?  I remember that happening to me.  It affected my short-term memory, but it did improve remarkably after chemo was over and done with.

Did anybody else record and watch "Terra Nova"?  I really liked the first episode....I must be turning into a sci-fi junkie in my old age!

I'm going to watch "Glee", then the 2nd half of DWTS this evening.  If I'm not too tired, I'll also watch "Body of Proof".  Whee, TV overload tonight!

I may check in before bedtime depending on how I feel.

I sure do miss FRANKIE.

Good Morning Everyone,

Glory--sorry to hear about your loss.

Thea--Your "fashionesta" reporting on my current  attire this morning.  To "achieve" this great, one of a kind (so  sorry not available to the public yet!), I reached into my drawer last night and pulled the "outfit out."  Yes, I admit it, it was dark, late and I din't look before I pulled them out.  I'm wearing a "lovely" pair of rust color(fall style) shorts, baggy, too big and a "gorgeous, navy tshirt from St. Pete's Beach in Florida. Of course, the beach design is faded and peeling off the shirt.  If interested in these "current" styles, let me know and I will do a "dumpster" dive in you own dresser drawer and pull a "one of a kind" look for you.

No set plans today, just will find something to do.  Hopefully it will not contain the "four letter" bad word, WORK!!!!!
