Though seven shows, audiences are loving the musical, fun-filled Timeless Tour of Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. The new Carolina blog features videos, graphics, and recaps, as well as segments on the Phineas & Ferb debut, the PBS Special, 2011 Tried & True Tour dates, and a plea for funds by Clack Unlimited.

American Idol’ Switches Labels To Universal

More changes are afoot at “American Idol” than the shuffling of the show’s judges.

The company that produces the popular television show has signed a deal with the Universal Music Group, the largest of the four major music labels, to develop, distribute and market albums from the shows’ top performers, the two companies announced on Tuesday.

The production company, 19 Entertainment, had been paired with Sony Music, providing the music label with a steady stream of singers already well known to the public. Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken and others became commercial successes after leaving the show. Ms. Underwood has also won multiple Grammy Awards.

“With Idol celebrating our 10th season I wanted to inject some new power and weight behind our brand,” Simon Fuller, the creator of “American Idol,” said in a statement. “It is exciting to have the world’s biggest show partnered with the world’s biggest music company.”

Rumors have swirled in the last week about the show’s judges, as Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres have both stepped away from that role. Most of the speculation has centered on the popular singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith.
