This is an article from the Chicago Tribune today (12/2). Note who gets mentioned first in the list!  :)

Have an Idol moment?
Check out our scorecard to see how your favorite contestants really fared

By Allison Stewart. Special to the Tribune.

"American Idol" doesn't start up again until early next year, but that doesn't mean its contestants have been, um, idle. With Clay's record in stores and Ruben's on the way, we thought it was a good time to answer some burning questions:

Why doesn't anyone seem to like Justin? Why would anyone think an "American Idol" movie was a good idea?

And what's the deal with Tamyra?

To answer these questions, and to find out which contestants really lost and which ones ruled, we've compiled an "American Idol" scorecard:

Winners

Clay Aiken

Ruben may be the show's official winner, but Clay's single, "Bridge Over Troubled Water," trounced Ruben's on the charts, becoming one of the top-selling singles of the last five years. Clay's debut, "Measure of a Man," was a smash, entering the charts at No. 1 and selling more than 2 million copies so far.

Kelly Clarkson

With a No. 1, platinum-plus debut album, Kelly still is one of the biggest stars of "AI." She also headlined a successful tour, showed up on "American Dreams" and signed a deal to promote Candie's shoes. What's next: Figuring out how to turn one hit record into a long career.

Tamyra Gray

Season One fan favorite Tamyra was denied the prize, but she could turn out to be the most successful contestant of all. She not only landed a high-profile acting gig on "Boston Public" last season (and she might be back this year), she also is making her own album, which might not be out until 2004. Music industry experts say the long wait could help distance her from the rest of the "Idol" competitors.

Losers

Justin Guarini

Justin's debut was a surprising flop. It didn't help that "Justin Guarini" was released at the same time Kelly's album was getting all the attention. It also didn't help that fans just didn't seem to like the disc, which had more blah ballads than catchy pop songs. Up next for Justin: Nothing definite, but he's said he'd like to become an actor.

`American Juniors'

This "AI" summer sequel, which used pint-sized contestants, flopped. It's not hard to figure out why: Fans missed Simon's insults. Plus, watching kids (and their scary stage parents) cry when they got rejected just wasn't much fun.

`From Justin to Kelly'

It might not have been the worst movie ever, but it was close (one critic even compared it to Cheez Whiz!). Whether it was because viewers didn't believe Justin and Kelly as a romantic couple, or whether they just knew it would be out on DVD a few weeks later, "FJTK" tanked. The worst news: No one is ruling out a movie for Ruben and Clay.

Split Decision

Ruben Studdard

Not only did Clay's single outsell his, but Ruben's image has been hurt by charges that he was paid to wear the 205 jerseys he sported on the show. His new album, "Soulful," due out on Dec. 9, mixes R&B and pop, and might feature an appearance by Fat Joe. Reportedly, Ruben is trying to toughen up his image with more bling-bling and gangsta-like rap songs. We're hoping this is just a rumor.

Kimberley Locke

The third place winner from Season Two recently signed a record deal, and could have an album out by the end of the year. She isn't the only one: Ryan Starr, R.J. Helton and A.J. Gil are among the many contestants with records in the works, and several others are working on TV and movie projects.

`American Idol' merchandise

There are so many different "AI" spinoffs, it's hard to keep track. Among the many upcoming projects are an "AI" holiday album, Ruben teddy bears and this month's "World Idol," a TV show that will feature Kelly competing against "Idol" winners from other countries. There's no end in sight, either: Season Three is set to debut next month, with at least two more seasons planned after that.

ThanX Faith!  Very interesting to see it all put in perspective like that.

Don't you just love how everyone keeps saying MoaM has SOLD over 2 million copies?  Even Letterman said it and Clay didn't correct him.

Heh heh heh.

It has actually SHIPPED 2 million, not sold. Not yet anyway, but just give us time.

Yes, I do!!!  :)  I see no reason to send an e-mail to the Tribune for a correction. Do you? (heh, heh)
