I loved everything about that show.  Clay's attitude was way cool.  He showed more maturity than Kimmel ever could.  I LOVED the outfit.  My bet is that sideways hoods will become a new rage.  It showed his unique style that has been talked about in his high school years.  Loved the coat.  Now, I can't wait to see what he wears on the AMA's.  He is getting more confidence in his own taste, I bet.

I was worried about the PETA thing, but Clay just gave it no energy and that is exactly the right way to handle the issue.  What a man he is!!!

The only other comment I want to make is about the ending of the show.  Did you notice how Clay tried to be a gentleman and escort Britney off the stage and she wouldn't allow it?  I thought that was interesting, since she is Southern and should understand the gentlemanly act.  Interesting, and her loss!

I stayed up just to watch him last night. And yes I noticed it too. I was surprised that B choose to ignore Clay on his attempt to be a gentleman. Oh well, we really can't expect much from B. All in all, our Clay did a magnificent job :!:

I THINK WE GOT TO SEE A DIFFERENT SIDE OF CLAY LAST NITE, AND I FOR ONE LOVED IT!  I DON'T THINK WE NEED TO WORRY ABOUT OMC.  HE PROVED HE COULD HANDLE WHATEVER'S DISHED OUT WITH CLASS AND HUMOR.  GOOD FOR YOU, CLAY!! ALTHOUGH THIS "OLDER" FAN LOVES TO SEE CLAY IN A CLASSIC SUIT, I ADMIT I LIKED WHAT HE HAD ON LAST NITE.  IT'S A YOUNGER AND HIPPER (SP?) LOOK, AND HE WORE IT WELL.  AFTER ALL, HE IS ONLY 25 (ALMOST).  LET'S FACE IT, GIRLS, WE WOULD LOVE CLAY IN A POTATO SACK (OR NOT!) LOL!

I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO APPLAUD JIMMY KIMMEL.  HE WAS A GRACIOUS HOST TO CLAY, AND SEEMED TRULY APOLOGETIC ABOUT THE HURTFUL THINGS HE SAID IN THE PAST. DON'T MAKE ME EAT MY WORDS, JIMMY!

BTW...I'M FAIRLY NEW HERE, AND I LOVE THIS BOARD!!  I ONLY BELONG TO ONE OTHER - MFC (MATURE FAN CLUB) FOR THE BACKSTREET BOYS, MY OTHER OBSESSION!  IF YOU'RE INTERESTED, CHECK IT OUT... IT'S A GREAT SITE!

Okay, first of all, Britney has been sick. She's had bronchitis or the flu or something like that. Something with her throat I think. That's why she was in the hospital and that's why she cancelled the rest of her European tour (or something like that). Yeah, she seemed really out of it last night and was definitely trying to hog the spotlight. :?

Okay now onto the better guest...CLAY!  :D  He was awesome last night! And he should be an actor! That clip was so cute! He handled that interview with class and very maturely. I was very impressed! I liked his snark look at Jimmy when Jimmy was saying that it wasn't him, he was teasing, it was some other guy. And I liked the way he dismissed the PETA thing. He just said "I got in some trouble for that" but he didn't say what or anything. And yes, I definitely think the whole point to have Clay on the show was to patch up things between Clay and Jimmy before the AMAs.

Oh and my favorite part was when Jimmy wanted Clay to punch him in the stomach and Clay said "you mean it can't hit you in the face??" :   That was great! The interview kind of reminded me of Clay's interviews with the jaded journalist. They were so funny! Clay can handle anything that comes at him! He is the man! I can't wait until the AMAs on Sunday!

I think Britney seemed very immature acting and showed her 9th grade education.  Don't get me wrong ,I always enjoyed watching Britney perform.  she is a great entertainer(not singer). She mostly ignored Clay, like she was better . PLEESEEE!!!

I never had any doubts about Clay being able to handle anything Jimmy Kimmel could throw at him, but he amazed even me. He was definitely the STAR of the show from the minute he walked onstage. And I loved his outfit. The reason the sweatshirt looked a little funny was that was how it was made. I don't know why it was made that way or who the designer is but I have read several letters on web-sites today wondering if he had it on backwards. He couldn't have had it on backwards because the hood was behind him where it was supposed to be. And I loved the jacket. Of course I love anything he wears but I thought the jacket made him look even more hot and sexy. I can hardly wait for Sunday night. I know he will blow us away again. :
I think that Clay could have a brilliant career as an actor so I hope he gets into that one of these days.

:P I wasn't worried about how Clay would handle himself--I knew he would do great, but I was still extremely impressed!!!  I thouht he looked great--the jacket, the sweatshirt (the "whole look").  I'm surprised no one has mentioned the way he teased Britney about what she said and then when she was trying to make amends he just turned back to Jimmy and told him he brought him a present.  Subtle, Clay, subtle, but way cool!

Clay demonstrated alot of confidence during the intervew; his comments to both Brittany and Kimmel were great - he showed who was in control and just how far he was going to let them go.  It was playful, powerful and the type of interview he needs to do from now.  In a subtle way I think he showed both Kimmel and Brittany (and other detractors) that he can laugh off criticism but there are some things he's not going let happen again.  For instance, when Kimmel stated Clay couldn't watch TV or listen to the radio when he was younger, Clay (thank you for doing this) said, "who is your fact finder...thats not true I did watch TV and listen to the radio."   Way to go....he doesn't have to take this Clay bashing.

Having watched the Brittany interview prior to Kimmel I was amazed at how she changed colors for this one.  Sensitive, teary eyed and clothed (for once) with Diane Sawyer to the I'm so hip and barely dressed with Kimmel.  Ugh!  When will she go away.  Frankly she needed to be seen with Clay more than he needed to be seen with her.  He has the fan base, she's tyring to have a comeback.  Kissing madonna is only alienating her from the majority of potential fans.  Writing and singing a song about her masturbation was way over the top (in the Sawyer interview).  That is not edge it very bad taste and definitely not music.  I guess if you don't have talent you have to get attention other ways.

The outfit clay wore was not great ... I'd make a staffing change after that.  Clay is quite handsome but that sweatshirt was an absolute a NO.  Time for a new stylist.  What is it with stripes and Clay....striped shirts, striped sweatshirt....

I live 2 minutes from Clay in Raleigh and actually go by his house regularly....and everyone in Raleigh is VERY protective of Clay....

There seems to be diverse opinions on Clay's Kimmel outfit last night. Clay is always an absolute cutie but I agree with those that say he coulda done better. The sweatshirt was weird and looked uncomfortable. Maybe that's the in thing now - what do I know. I'm 60 and comfort is my goal always. The striped jacket looked like something that came from the circus. (Hey this is just my opinion.) He's so tall and thin. The bold vertical stripes over emphasized his tall, skinny body. Clay looks so hip in classic stuff. His thin frame carries it off great. Someone earlier mentioned they thought Clay looked tired. I did to. Wondering if all the pressure is getting to him abit, despite the fact that he handles it so well. I sure wish he could take a break, go home for awhile or go on vaction AWAY from the media attention and even all of us. He's quite the guy, huh? Yaoooweeee

I know I posted here before but I have to again.  Clay is just such a class act that I can't stand it.  For someone his age, he handles situations better than anyone I've ever seen.  He's funny, gracious, and just a nice guy.  He knows how to handle every situation he's in.  I admire him for that.  I find myself always worried about him.  I guess it's the mothering instinct in me although I wish it was more than that.  We should all be very proud of the man that he is.

to Claylady and other Clay fans out there,

I've been trying to pin down Clay's charm -- besides his very strong voice (I get the same feeling from looking up at the sky and listening to him sing -- soar high Clayton!), his boy-next-door image and his good-natured goofiness. I found the answer when I saw a picture of him dozing off -- it's his vulnerability. It cries out to the maternal instincts in most women, and that perhaps explains why Clay fans (mostly female, right?) have sometimes be described as "rabid".  Not only do we love hearing him sing, watch him perform, or get a double-platinum, we want him to be happy and 'safe' -- we want to protect him (his image, his music, his feelings, his well-being). Maybe that's why the PETA's adverts roused such strong reactions from a number of Claymates.

Now I understand why yesterday I was overwhelmed with a sense of dread and fear that Clay will turn into a snob or a jerk as he lets the screaming and the flashing cameras blind him. When one day (may that day never come, I pray) he finds himself without a mob of fans screaming "Aiken for you!" or seeing lots of signages with his baby photos ... when his nth album flopped ... when they only publish scandal or accusations relating to him ...  : my heart just breaks at the thought.

This is strange, right? I mean, for any other artist, I would tell myself "You are mad, this person is just a stranger! Why are you losing sleep over his problem?". But for Clay ... the fact is I don't see him as a stranger. I see a friend in him -- that is, if I were to get to know him personally, I think I'd like him.

And his prior image of a 'geek', which used to be (until Clay came along) translated roughly to 'loser' or 'the underdog', clinched the matter -- he's got our support! He's got our love, devotion, adulation, admiration, prayer etc etc. He's got himself an army of people who would do anything they can to ensure he's fine. I find myself wishing that I can make sure he's eating properly, having enough sleep and not crack down. Oh dear, I hope Holywood will not turn him into a neurotic or psychotic, shallow, materialistic, "useless" celebrity. (OK, maybe I am being neurotic here  :D )

Thankfully, a part of me realizes that Clay is not alone in his "ordeal". He's got his mother, the wonderful Mrs Faye Parker, his family and friends from Raleigh and UNC Charlotte. I mean, of course he has us, his fans, but fans have been known to be fickle, you know. It's human nature to have a limited span of attention. That's partly why I am afraid for his future. What if one day we find him not so interesting or worthy as we find him now? Then what? Luckily, as I said, he's got a network of support that will definitely stand by him through thick and thin.

Besides, he's been through some tough times and he pulled through. This 'dorky' Southern Mama's boy is clearly NOT a loser. Just look at how confident and well he carries himself through various interviews, performances and formal appearances. He can be respectful and serious, open and approachable (like he did with Ms Sawyer in the Primetime Interview), yet he also has a secret weapon of humour and snarkiness -- such that the likes of the Jaded Journalist and Jimmy Kimmel cannot touch him.

I do have to say that I am proud to be a Claymate.
