Luann Comic Strip: Luann De Groot is about to have an unexpected
encounter with one of the most famous singers in America. The star of
the "Luann" comic strip, which runs in newspapers all over the U.S. and
the world, is going to bump into Clay Aiken. The two-week story arc
begins Monday, Dec. 29. Greg Evans, creator of "Luann," was inspired to
feature Aiken as a guest star in the comic strip when he attended a
release party for Aiken's debut album thrown by fans in Los Angeles.
Evans had just arrived that day in Los Angeles for a month-long series
of meetings at Dick Clark Productions, where he and Billboard
reporter/TV writer Fred Bronson have sold "Luann" as a live-action
series. Greg and Fred had planned to have dinner that night, and Fred
told Greg during dinner he was welcome to come along to the release
party for "Measure of a Man" at the Burbank Hilton. It was Evans' first
encounter with Clay Aiken fans. When Clay actually dropped by the party
to thank the fans on his way to LAX to catch a flight to New York,
Evans came up with the idea for a "Luann" storyline that would include
Clay. The story will run in the Monday-Saturday comic strips. The
strips can be read in local newspapers, or online at:
www.unitedmedia.com/comics/luann/ Check out the drawing attached to
this e-mail of Clay and Luann! This drawing was done especially for
Clay, who will receive a signed copy from the illustrator, Greg Evans.
Thank you, Greg!

New BILLBOARD charts are up, and Measure of a Man remains at #11 after nine weeks-

Invisible remains at #43 on the HOT 100 singles chart-

And finally, on the ADULT CONTEMPORARY chart, you'll find Clay's name three times - Invisible is up to #11 from #12,  The First Noel is up to #13 from #16, and Clay's duet with Kim Locke, Silver Bells is up to #19 from #22-

It's a beautiful day in the Clayborhood...OK that was bad.  Sorry!   8)

COUNT THE IDOLS: Establishing a new record for any one Billboard chart, the "American Idol" franchise reaches new heights on the Adult Contemporary tally, with five different singers who have competed on the show charting at the same time.

Clay Aiken holds at No. 12 with "Invisible" (RCA), while moving 19-16 with "The First Noel" and standing pat at No. 22 with "Silver Bells," a duet with Kimberley Locke. First season winner Kelly Clarkson advances 25-19 with her version of "My Grown-Up Christmas List," while second-season winner Ruben Studdard is teamed with first season contestant Tamyra Gray on "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," a new entry at No. 29.

A total of six Idols have appeared on various Billboard charts, as first season runner-up Justin Guarini went to No. 20 on The Billboard 200 with his first, self-titled release. Second season contestant Vanessa Olivarez hasn't charted in the U.S. yet, but did peak at No. 10 in Canada with "The One."

There's "Idol" activity on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart as well, where Studdard's second single, "Sorry 2004" (J), is the highest new entry at No. 43. His first R&B chart single, "Superstar," debuted at No. 61 the week of June 21. "Superstar" was the second-highest new entry that week, while "Shake Ya Tailfeather" by Nelly, P. Diddy & Murphy Lee took Hot Shot Debut honors at No. 57.

BILLBOARD CHART BEAT

Looks like OMC is gathering fans in all sorts of directions!!!! YEAH
