Monday morning words of wisdom:

Clay Aiken missing from Grammy list.
By Dean Cameron

BURBANK, CA  Monday 12.15.2003  /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- If you had a lot of time on your hands and cared about these sorts of things, you'd notice that, even after going double platinum and having the Billboard Bestselling Single of the Year, Clay Aiken was not nominated for one single, solitary Grammy Award.

Maybe it's because the bestselling song was a cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" or maybe it's because the folks who decide these things are just waiting for American Idol winner Ruben Studdard's album to fill some artistic void they feel is missing from Aiken's work.

Maybe caring about these things is unimportant.

Then again, maybe not.

NET MUSIC COUNTDOWN

The only reason I have posted some of these types of articles is that I find it interesting that so many people noticed that Clay was absent from the Grammy ballots.  I find it very interesting.

Clay is once again on the AOL front page:

"Holiday Tunes from Top Stars Clay, Ashanti, Norah & Others Sing Classics: Hear Full CDs"  (note:  one name!)

The link leads to "Holidays 2003: Entertainment" and then to a link to the AI Christmas album audio starting with The First Noel.

CLAY AIKEN TO GUEST STAR IN LUANN COMIC STRIP

Luann De Groot is about to have an unexpected encounter with one of the
most famous singers in America. The star of the "Luann" comic strip, which runs in newspapers all over the U.S. and the world, is going to bump intoClay Aiken.

The two-week story arc begins Monday, Dec. 29. Greg Evans, creator of
"Luann," was inspired to feature Aiken as a guest star in the comic strip
when he attended a release party for Aiken's debut album thrown by fans in Los Angeles.

Evans had just arrived that day in Los Angeles for a month-long series of
meetings at Dick Clark Productions, where he and Billboard reporter/TV
writer Fred Bronson have sold "Luann" as a live-action series. Greg and
Fred had planned to have dinner that night, and Fred told Greg during
dinner he was welcome to come along to the release party for "Measure of a Man" at the Burbank Hilton.

It was Evans' first encounter with Clay Aiken fans. When Clay actually
dropped by the party to thank the fans on his way to LAX to catch a flight
to New York, Evans came up with the idea for a "Luann" storyline that would include Clay.

The story will run in the Monday-Saturday comic strips. The strips can be
read in local newspapers, or online at: www.unitedmedia.com/comics/luann/

You know, Pamela, our man is a star to be reckoned with....wasn't he also referred to in a Doonesbury comic strip, too?

And you're right...first name only.... :

The first article is also interesting because the writer offers the fact of BOTW being a cover as the possible reason it was not nominated; however, "Superstar" is also a cover and WAS nominated.

hmmmm :?  :

Really, how brilliant.  Excellent research Mr. Writer.  He needs a new fact checker.

One week from tonight, Clay will be singing the national anthem and another song at the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game!

I don't know if the game or pre-game activities will be shown, but I did want to let you know the RBC Center does have a webcam.

You can see it HERE.

Are you sure you didn't forget a zero?  Those numbers seem much too small for one week!  Clay has been selling around 100,000 almost every week since the second week!

FROM CLAY'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE:

Due to your overwhelming support and enthusiasm, Clay's
version of 'Solitaire' is being prepared for release as a b-side. Initially, it
was intended to be on an 'Invisible' single. However, since Clay's new
single will be out early in 2004, 'Solitaire' will be released as a b-side for
that song. This new version, done with producer Clif Magness, has turned out so well...we can't wait for you to hear it. Keep an eye on the site for
the forthcoming release date, and the announcement of the new single!
Thanks again for all your tremendous support...and have a great
Holiday!

No problem Terry!  I saw your post, but I put it here as well because I intend to archive the daily news posts for 'posterity!'  I really do appreciate you and everyone else bringing news and articles and pictures and everything to the site.  I can't do it by myself, and the site can only be as good as it's members are.  And I think we have some pretty ding dang good members here, don't you?

liney23, I don't think any zeros are missing.  It always starts off slow in the beginning.  By tomorrow mid morning, the numbers will have gone up significantly.
