5:30 p.m. Tuesday

Candidates for Lee County Board of Commissioners and Lee County Sheriff, plus the race between incumbent N. C. House member Rep. Mike Stone and challenger Brad Salmon, will be highlighted Tuesday at the first of two political forums hosted by The Herald.
This week's forum begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center. The forum portion begins at 6:30 p.m.
The Oct. 7 event will include commissioner candidates in three contested district races, including the District 2 contest between Chris deLambert and Tim Sloan, the District 3 contest between incumbent Andre Knecht and Chuck Baker, and the District 4 contest between Kevin Dodson and Larry “Doc” Oldham.
Incumbent Sheriff Tracy Carter and challenger Justin Rosser will also be included in this week’s forum, which will feature opening statements from candidates and questions posed by moderator Bill Horner III, The Herald’s publisher.
The Oct. 14 forum will feature candidates for Lee County Board of Education, two state races (N.C. Senate Dist. 12 and House Dist. 54), and the district’s Congressional race between incumbent Renee Ellmers and Clay Aiken.
