My 40th Birthday present from hubby or as I like to call it, the best Clay adventure, I’ve ever had!! I have to say thanks to my wonderful hubby who not wanting to have to buy me a 40th bday present jumped on the "go to Maine to see Clay" train faster then most clayfans! He was the one who instantly demanded I buy my closing night seats (row F dead center!) as soon as they were available, even though at that point the plans weren’t really in place for me to go......soooo glad he made me jump, those were amazing seats. From there it was trying to enable other clayfans to join me in my adventure, and while it took some convincing my travel buddy (ashleysgram) did cave and decided to go. We were also supposed to have Claysweetea and her travel buddy join us, but as you all know Claysweetea was unable to make the journey due to vertigo, I’m so sorry we didn’t get to have her with us, perhaps on the next adventure. I do think her lovely traveling partner took lots of pictures and rocks, and other lovely treats to bring back to her, and I’m so happy there is clack for her to get a chance to experience the sights and sounds of the show.

Took two planes, and a car rental to get to Ogunquit, but we finally arrived. Beautiful weather and breathtaking views, and amazing food. Had the best clam chowder at the pub at the Meadomere (sp?) then off to the play!! Now, I had not watched or listened to a single thing....a first for me. I also did not look at prior runs or movies of the play so I really had no prior knowledge of what was about to happen. We had Row I dead center for our first show on Saturday night, amazing seats as well. When the music started and Clay walked out bathed in the Son of God lighting, I about lost it......man does he look amazing in white, and that wig in person is AMAZING and he was just breathtaking. As he came down towards the front, I finally took my eyes off his beautiful face (which was a mistake!) because I was then transfixed by a cut in his shirt that revealed skin and chest hair.....it was hard to look away from. Why is that more sexy to me then the amazing (and it is amazing) body of the Pharaoh??? Love the music and his facial expressions were great....eye rolls really made me laugh. Then came CED, I had heard talk about him being on the floor, but I guess I didn’t realize he was flat out on the floor. How he does that song like that is beyond me...and really if you haven’t sung Im not sure you can comprehend how hard that would be. I love that the song builds, and his portrayal of the emotions were spot on for this song IMO, and what can I say about the vocals, none better and yes Im biased...but if your reading this on here, you probably are too!! FLove the brothers and even on stage you can tell they are a close knit bunch. The ending scene with Jacob about made me cry, and I’m not a crier, but Clays face in that scene is beyond amazing. Overall, I could not have asked for more and was so glad I had gone.

Fast forward to the clayfan brunch the next morning at the Cliff House, and its just one more amazing part of my time in Maine. Met old friends from past adventures, and made some new ones (waves to DisplacedNCfan) food was yummy and the view there was spectacular....we loved it so much we came back there after the closing show for dinner and ate in the dining room with the view of the ocean....not too shabby I have to say!!

On to the closing show. I was so excited because now I know what to expect, plus our seats were even better! I could tell Keala (Sp?) was emotional right from the start, and in the end she’s the one who got my water works going. You could tell the brothers hamming it up even more, but it only made it even better, it didn’t take away from the show. How Clay kept a straight face in some of the scenes is beyond me, cuz they were trying to get him to crack. I think only Keala was able to break through when at the end she grabs his hands. By then she was an emotional mess and quite a few of the "kids" were as well, which just made me lose it. Vocally I felt he was even better then the night before, CED was worth the trip alone. I don’t know why but the final scenes with the eye makeup and him being all forceful and yelling "guards seize him" go right to my girlie parts! The final bows were bittersweet but a lot of fun. I was able to get up on the side at stage door to be above the crowd and get pictures, some of the best I’ve ever gotten of him....so no autograph but Ill take my pictures.

In the end I want to say thank you to my hubby for this amazing gift. To my travel partners Ashleysgram and Audrey, thanks for make a great trip even better by adding your color into my world. A special thanks to Claysweetea for all you did to help make this happen, and for sharing Audrey with us, I only hope we all can get together again someday. To Clay, I may not always have the words to describe the fun or beauty you bring into my life, but as you are indescribable, so to is the journey I’ve been on for the last ten years. Here’s to ten more

Kwhite - your post made me cry. I dont' remember being to any Clay event before that made me cry. Brightstar said that it would be kind of sad on Sunday and I said, "OH NO, not me, I'm excited for the future" WRONG!!!!!! I blame those people on that stage. When you see tears in grown men's eyes and you know someone you love caused it, Yer done.

I got home so late last night but it was worth every travelling moment. Having downloaded the whole audio from the last show, I listened to it over and over and cried some more as I relived every scene.

Friday night, Yaknelle and I were the last out of the theatre and we finally exited out the opposite door to try to go behind the theatre to the stage door but we were stopped by one of the children who said we couldn't go there but she insisted on escorting us all the way around to the proper place and up the side of the crowd until we reached the far left side. We had a perfect view and that is where Yak got her wonderful stage door smile. We had been told he wouldnt go past the barricades to do autographs but amazingly he sure did and everyone on that side got lucky. That was also where they exited to leave so I talked to many of them and they were all so sweet.

Kory's cousin was standing there and his wife went EEEEEEEEEEEEEE when she saw him signing autographs. I told them I'd tweet a photo of him signing and they were all excited. Ken, my favourite said they would be all teary eyed on Sunday but they were having a blast. Saturday I was able to chat with Keala a bit and I told her how happy we were that she was so successful in her fund raising for Covenant House and she stopped and said "Thank you all so much, we talked about what happened (with Clay's fans) all night as we slept on the pavement and we told the kids and they were blown away'. That made me smile and I felt really good about having helped a little bit.

I didn't see anyone mention Clay exiting the final curtain call - HILARIOUS look on his face as though he truly WAS pulling the whole cast on his coat, much more pronounced and funny than the other shows as he looked toward the audience when he grimmaced. Too funny.

Work is overrated and so is Kansas weather............. mid nineties and going up for a week....... have I mentioned that I LOVED Maine?

I am still on a trip high though.

This might have been my favorite Clay trip ever. How do you take 6 women, a car that seats five and not have any 'issues'? I hope one of the picture taking maniacs I was with will share a picture of our travel arrangements and 'the junk in the trunk'.  We had so much fun, saw so many wonderful sights, shopped a lot, ate a lot and every night finished with stupendous entertainment. Thanks to my travel buddies, you are the funniest, nicest and most patient women I know.

I managed to get through the last show without crying mainly because it was more like a rock concert. Loud, energetic and just plain perfect. I got teary eyed at the final stage door when one of the brothers looked at us and said to someone who thanked him, "No, I want to thank you. I have never played to such great audiences. This has been such a great experience." That's a little paraphrased since I am senile but it was the most amazing comment and to see the joy on all the actors faces as they signed autograph after autograph and posed for pictures long after stage door was over. Right in the middle of that came 'the text' and the squeals just sort of went from one group to the next. The best tweet ever.

CED was perfection at the closing performance, I sure hope something surfaces on that.

Kaela was a soggy mess the last 10 minutes of the show. She just held on to Clay so tightly and he sort of had to sing on his own. Someone said he saluted us as he left the stage but I missed it.

I would go back to Maine in a heartbeat, hell if I was rich I would move there in the summers.

Ogunquit, Maine. I couldn’t even spell it for a while without looking at it at the same time. Now I can spell it as easily as I can spell Honolulu. Where the heck is that I asked myself. As I looked it up…and as I was buying tickets to a show somewhere I never knew existed before I was like whoever thought I would travel to Maine?? Bigappleforclay and jc4aikenheart you all were so much fun to travel with to Maine along with my DH. DH was joking that he was traveling with his three sister wives.

Ogunquit: a magical place. I am so happy I got to know you. It has been an amazing, wonderful, exhilarating, fantastic weekend. Good friends, Clay, an amazing show, Clay, and a visit to a beautiful, scenic, friendly town and Clay. The drive up took 2 hours more than I thought it would due to traffic. We screamed when we crossed the bridge into Maine. We screamed when we went by the Playhouse and saw Clay on the billboard. And then we hit something that is ubiquitous to Ogunguit…the traffic into town on Highway 1. We hit that darn traffic every single time we drove to our hotel from the Playhouse side of Ogunquit which was so many times I lost count. It’s due to an insane intersection that was total chaos. If ever there was a place that needed a traffic light that was it. The only other two things I would fix in Ogunquit are that they need a municipal parking lot because we found parking was a royal pita and the cell service just sucks. I had calls that failed and text messages that failed. It was a miracle the cellcert on Sunday worked!!!!

One of the wonderful things about this trip is that we really got to know Ogunquit. We did touristy things. We went to Perkins Cove, walked the Marginal Way, saw Nubble Lighthouse and York. We walked through Ogunquit which is a quintessential artsy sort of Southampton kind of town. We went to the beach and put our feet in the ocean. There was no way more than that was happening because it was FREEZING!!! We ate at some places that Clay ate at..Amore, the Front Porch and Barnacle Billy’s at sunset. We met a lot of really nice people who worked and lived in the town and had some of the best food!

The Front Porch was wonderful for dinner. And I think it was there that we realized how much the town is protective of Clay. We had a wonderful waitress. She told us Clay ate there and that we in fact had just missed him…but she didn’t want what she knew posted on public places since they didn't feel it was for public consumption. She liked Clay and said he was a really great guy. After the show we came back to see the piano bar…and she came out and talked to us on the sidewalk for a while asking us what we thought of the show. We decided against going up and squishing ourselves into the crowd. We told her he was amazingly wonderful and told her she should go. She said she wanted to but I don’t think she could afford a ticket and at that point it was sold out anyway. Jc4aikenheart wished we had an extra ticket to give her. I don’t think I met one person at any of the restaurants or places we visited that said one bad thing about him. I don’t expect everyone to love him…but there was a lot of respect.

The ocean up in Maine is gorgeous. The Atlantic actually looked blue!!!! My crazy husband decided he wanted to take sunrise pictures and went out to the Marginal Way at 4 am in the dark with a flashlight and headlight. He said it was spooky because there was no one else there. Who else would be so crazy to go out there in the dark?? He wanted to set up on the rocks closer to the ocean and climbed as far down as he could near the edge. Slipped on some moss covered rocks and then splashed in a tidal pool and decided he was close enough. That was one really great thing about this trip, he had a wonderful time photographing the scenery and I had a wonderful time being with great friends and seeing Clay. I still have the Clay grin on my face and the songs from Joseph are swirling in my head.

The play? I had never seen it. I never had the urge to see it. I didn't watch any video or listen to anything so I was a Virgin for the first time in my decade of following Clay. I was blown away. Clay was amazing. Clay’s vocals were pure and full of power. Clay’s acting got better every show I saw. There was even a change from Friday to Sunday. Closing night performances are something I never ever want to miss. The show was very emotional and they all cut loose. I am amazed that Clay didn’t break character although I think everyone was trying to make him break character. The house was full of energy and love on the stage and the audience gave appreciation for a truly amazing performance by Clay and everyone in the production. When Clay got his standing O the roof almost blew off I think. And at the end when he comes out with his coat at the end of the Mega Mix the applause was deafening. It reminded me of Spamalot when we blew the roof off the Shubert! Mark gave it the highest honor when we got back home: he told Chris and Alli that they should have come with us and seen it because they would have really enjoyed it because of how much fun the whole show is to watch. He has the songs going through his head too.

I don’t know if you all heard over the cellstream but sitting behind us the row had a family of one of the kids in the show. The father was so funny when he realized we were Clay fans. He turned to his wife and said we found them…Claymates!!! He was so appreciative of us and of Clay. He told us that the day before Clay had come to the kid’s production of the Cat in the Hat. The kids in the show also put on other shows as part of their summer camp. He sat in the orchestra with his bucket hat on. Every time the kids put on a show the brothers would come out to support the kids and watch.

Keala is a sweetheart and a local girl from Hawai’i. It was wonderful to talk story with her and give her some love. And the brothers? They are one huge talented group. And I love Kory. He is just the cutest guy!!! They deserved a standing O for Cannan Days. The final stage door every time anyone came out – it didn’t matter who it was got a rousing applause and hoots and appreciation and love. It was sad to see the moving truck when they were breaking down the set. But all good things must come to an end. I think all the people in this cast of Joseph will be friends for life.

While we were all milling around after Clay went back inside Clay’s tweet came though on my phone. I read it and burst into tears. It is the sweetest thing I think he has ever said to us. I wanted to tell him no thank you Clay…thank you for a journey that has brought me wonderful friendships and has taken me all over the country to places I never would have gone but for you.

Thank you so very much Alisafan, for arranging and coordinating the brunch. It was sooooo much fun to just have time to sit and talk in a gorgeous setting of the Cliff House to old friends on the Clay trail and to meet some new ones! Genlovesclay…your DH is a keeper. He was the only other husband at the brunch besides DH. We all even had name tags thanks to Alisafan’s daughter who made all 50 of them for us. The views from the Cliff House of the ocean are to die for. Oh and if you are ever in Ogunquit go to that Sunday Brunch there. OMG! The food is delicious and there is such a wide variety of choice. One of the best brunch buffets I have been to outside of Honolulu.

What can I say? This was a Technicolor weekend that was pure magic. The combination of Clay doing amazing things on stage, the friends, and Ogunquit created synergy that made it one of the best Clay trips I have ever taken. I would go back to Ogunquit in a heartbeat.

DH needs to work on pictures but just before we left he got super busy at work and he had to do some work over the weekend too. I asked him to please work on his Clay pictures…and his Ogunquit pictures.

I've never seen this play before and tried to stay unspoiled, although I cheated a little, listened to his high voice very briefly and Close Every Door several times.

As everyone has reported, the play was amazingly good. I watched the movie when I got home because I was curious to see how the different directors interpreted it. The play was so much better. I'm not biased either. Youtube has the entire movie up. Jayme McDaniel's version told the tale with more heart and the characters, particularly the brothers, had more personality. In the movie, they seemed to be a backdrop as the camera was focused on the narrator. The pharaoh in the movie sings like Elvis but doesn't move his hips, at all. Matthew's version was a hoot and a crowd pleaser. Pharaoh doesn't wear a hardhat in the movie either and no blueprints scene.

I think the audience member that emerson talked to that said Clay played the role with more emotion was spot on. Joseph/Clay made me care about him. Even while laughing at the deviousness of the brothers, I still felt Joseph/Clay's hurt at their betrayal. I agree with the reviewer who said he didn't play Joseph boastful and full of himself, but as shy and humble and wanted his brother's acceptance. He plays vulnerable, innocent, gentle, and caring very well. His pain in "Close Every Door" scene is palpable. When the brothers embrace Joseph/Clay as their long lost brother, it rings so true and seems so real because it is. They've really become close and like brothers. I also shed a few tears when Joseph/Clay saw his father again. Clay's voice so tender and sweet and touching his father face was quite moving.

I heard a few clips that had the high voice and wasn't a fan until I saw the play. Clay's high voice works because he is singing his anger and it adds drama to the scenes. When he is singing "Who can it be" to the Pharaoh, again you can hear the angst in his voice while he is trying to get his point across to the pharaoh. It just worked and his voice soars.

There was an interview before the play started where Bradford Kenney, the executive artistic director, said they needed a Joseph who would be a fresh appealing centerpiece of the production and they needed someone warm and genuine to pull it off. Well, they found all that in Clay and he brought it. I'm proud for him and so happy that he was surrounded by such a wonderful, talented group of performers who welcomed him as one of their own.

My traveling buddy, jojobugs, and met a funny NJU from Portland in the restroom line. We saw her again as her and her husband were sitting behind us. She was telling us that 4 of her friends had seen the play, 3 loved it and one didn't because she didn't like kids. I asked at intermission if they were enjoying themselves and they loved it.

We admitted we were Clay fans and husband was impressed that we were there. I told him we had just come from a luncheon with 50 fans. The play was starting and I heard him telling his wife "They went to lunch with 50 fans, 50 of them are here, isn't that something?" I didn't tell him that was not all of us.

We also sat next to one of the girl's grandmother and during intermission mom was telling us that the kids had to audition for a part. I think she said she had to go back 3 times and out of 67 kids, they chose 18 and then later they added 4 more to bring the number up to 22. Some of them switched out, but her daughter was there for the entire run. This was her first professional gig. She is the girl in red on the right in the photo with Clay that Suereu posted. Clay touched her cheek during "Any Dream Will Do" and mom said she's not going to wash that cheek.

Most of what I wanted to say has been said already. Clay's voice was perfection in all of my five Joseph's. As far as his acting, his expressions, his movements, he got better and better with each subsequent performance. The love in the playhouse was palpable. It was so obvious to me that the cast had become an instant and close family. I could feel the love and support that they had for each other. Even with Clay being injured, his part was still very physical. I watched them being very careful with Clay when they were carrying him around and when they put him down. I kept holding my breath when they dragged him accross the stage.

The grandmother of the little girl, whose face Clay caressed, when he sang "Any Dream Will Do" was sitting behind me. When the little girl's mother brought the grandmother to her seat, I got to talk to her. She told me that the children had to go through multiple auditions, with some being eliminated along the way, to be on the show. She was very happy that her daughter had made it through all the auditions, and stayed all throught the run of the show as some of the children were switched out.
She said that the children loved Clay, but did not get to interact with him as much as they would have liked because Clay had his private dressing room and the children were outside in the white tent. But she did say that Clay went over to the tent several times, and brought Parker to play with them. She said that now that Clay had caressed her daughter's face, she probably would not want to wash it for a long time. I could understand that

At one of my shows, there was a mother with her two daughters, who was quick to tell me that they were there for a birthday, had bought the Joseph tickets without even knowing that Clay was going to be in it. She said that when they bought the tickets, they could have chosen any seat that they wanted. I told her that they had lucked out when they found out that Clay was starring in it. She quickly corrected me, told me that they were AL fans and that Clay was good for Broadway, but that Adam was both Broadway and Concert.

You all would have been proud of me. I just smiled sweetly at her, did not debate the issue, but did clap and cheer for Clay as loud as I could. I also introduced Lucia, who was seating behind me, and mentioned that she had come all the way from Brazil just to see Clay. I also mentioned that we had someone come all the way from New Zealand. When they were leaving they said for me to have fun with my friends, but said nothing about the show, or if they had liked Clay's performance.

This was the very best Clay trip for me. I am so glad I "caved!" I was not going to go because of the expense associated with going to the Gala, but it was worth every penny and more! I so wish that all of you could have been there. I am definitely not an impulsive person by nature, I gave it a lot of thought before I caved. But I do empathize with those who for different reasons could not attend.

The show was fantastic, getting to see fans I knew and getting to meet new ones was great. Vertigo and her daughter, Sadie, were just wonderful and so helpful. Alisafan did a great job on the brunch.

Sunday, after the last show, last stage door, we were lingering in the stage door area, Keala and some of the cast were also lingering like they were reluctant to go. I went up to Keala and told her that I was sad that it was ending, but was glad that I had watched five shows. Her eyes filled up with tears and she gave me the biggest warmest hug. She was so warm, so real. She told me with tears in her eyes that without "us" they were nothing and that she was really grateful for "us," the people who came to the shows. Then she gave me another big hug. By that time we were both crying. I just love Keala.

Went back to my group, then Clay's tweet came on our phones, and we were all crying again. So much emotion, so much love! Really good loving cries. So happy and grateful to be a fan of this man, and a member of this fandom.

THE VERY LAST RED REPORT ABOUT JOSEPH.....OR WHY I THINK THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS THAT CLAY HAS EVER DONE......FOR CLAY!!!! IMHO

My last show was Thursday evening 8/22, and it was awesome!!!! There was a huge difference between the show Tuesday nite (which was great too) and that Thursday nite. Clay was pogoing with the brothers during the whole "red, yellow, purple, etc." sequence after getting the coat, and dancing much more. There was more eye rolling, and breaking the 4th wall a bit during the Pharoah sequence. He was just having a great time. I know by all reports that he got stronger with each of the last 3 performances, but Thursday night capped it for me, so I have to be happy with that.

For this show, I was sitting in seat G2, the right hand aisle seat. That was a GREAT seat, actually, and gave me a different perspective. This was the first time I saw Keala take the cell phone pic of Jacob and the brothers and then stuff the phone in her bra. If you watched the show a zillion times, I think you would notice new details every time. There's just that much going on on stage. SO fun.

So, before the show started, a middle-aged guy came up the aisle with a bunch of younger guys, and they filled up the rest of my row. I was chatting with Clayann who was sitting across the aisle from me, and so this gentleman asked me if I was visiting Ogunquit. I said that I was, and I asked him if he was as well. He said, no, he had lived there for 30 years. He asked me if I had come to see Clay, and I said that I had. He asked me where I was from, and I told him I had come with 4 other friends from Southern California. He said he just couldn't believe how many people had traveled such a distance to see Clay in this show. I noted that Clayann was from Dallas, and pointed out Lucia down the row from us, who had flown in from Brazil. He was just amazed.

He said that he had been a big supporter of the Playhouse for many years, and that they had never seen anything like this. They were all blown away. Plus, he said that everyone was so nice!! (Yes, yes we are!!!)

I was doing my very best to seem like a normal person, and not a crazed fan, so I told him how much I was loving Ogunquit and the area. I told him that the reaction from virtually all of the other fans who had traveled there was the same. We loved the Coastline, harbor, the beaches, the architecture, the FOOD, the friendliness of the people....everything!!! He told me several other places I needed to explore on future trips, because I told him I wanted to bring back my husband so that he could explore with me.

He told me that next time, I needed to come and stay at one of his Inns. He and his partner owned several in the area, and he showed me their ad in the program. Cool!!! I told him where I was staying and how much I loved the location, and he told me which one of theirs was the closest to where I was staying this trip.

THEN....he told me that one of his perks of his alliance with the Playhouse was that he got to pick up the stars of the show and transport them to Ogunquit!! So he told me that he had picked up Clay, Faye and Parker at the airport in Boston and driven them up to Maine!!!!!! He told me that Clay was such a nice guy and very friendly. He said his mother was very charming. He said that Clay had a lot of questions about the area and was very chatty. He went on AT LENGTH about how adorable Parker was. AT LENGTH!!! He said he was just one of the cutest little boys he'd ever seen, and that he and Clay were so great together. He said that he was incredibly polite and well behaved. The drive from Boston to Ogunquit is 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic, and he said that most little boys that age would have been cranky and whiny on a drive that long, but he was chatty and happy, and pretty easily entertained. He went on some more about how adorable he was and how Clay seemed like such a good Dad. eeeeeeeee

Y'all would have been proud of me....I did not tackle him and demand to know if he had gotten a picture with all of them. I was quite calm!! But I ate up his description anyway!

Then it was just about time for the show to start. He said he had seen the show in Boston with Donny Osmond and loved it, so was excited to see what this cast did with it.

He and his group laughed and clapped and were having a great time throughout the first half. When Clay finished "Close Every Door" I could here them exclaiming "WOW" "Incredible" "That was phenomenal", and clapping enthusiastically and yelling "Bravo". I was like a proud Mom!!!

My seatmate did a lot of shmoozing at intermission. He's well known in the community, evidently and a lot of people came up to talk to him. When we were back in our seats, he told me that he had really enjoyed the show years ago in Boston, but that this production totally blew it out of the water. He said that Clay was really great, but that the whole cast was really fantastic as well. He said it had so much infectious energy, it just seemed like everyone on stage was having the time of their lives! Yes, yes it did!!

He said that maybe Clay would become the next Sally Struthers for their Playhouse. This only makes sense if you know that Sally Struthers came to play there years ago and fell in love with it. She comes back to appear in a production every year, and does other fundraisers and publicity for the Playhouse. She is like the Queen of that theater. He said that the Producers there would give anything to have Clay come back and be a regular....but at least come back. He said they have never had this kind of attention and reaction for any other star, and that it had been (at that point) one of the most successful productions they had ever had!

So, here, for me was the kicker. He said that he would be driving Clay back to Boston when the run was over, and that he couldn't wait to hear what Clay had to say about his stay in Ogunquit. He wanted to know if Faye and Parker had enjoyed themselves. He wanted to know if Clay enjoyed himself. He said that Clay had arrived on the Saturday before the show debuted, and that Saturdays in Oguquit could be pretty crazy with people all over the streets and lots of traffic. (Yes! And during the week as well, but I'm sure weekends are worse). Clay looked out at the crowds and the traffic, and said...."I can see I'm going to be spending most of my time here in my room". My seat buddy said, "He really doesn't like crowds, does he?. He was really freaked out." No. Clay doesn't like crowds, not even small ones, and he hates not having any privacy.

BUT, he didn't stay in his room, did he? That Playhouse, and that cast, and the whole town and all the resaurant owners and staff, and everyone who went to see the show, treated him like a star, but with open arms and hearts as well. Clay let Parker play with all the kids in the show. He and his Mom and Parker went out to local restaurants. HE LET PARKER SIT IN THE AUDIENCE TO SEE THE PLAY!!! Knowing that there were fans there who would know who he was. When they left and Zach came to town, they tweeted and hung out with the "bros" and got into the whole Twitter contest mode, etc. He went to the same local restaurants multiple times (he went to Amore Breakfast every other day....the day before and day after I was there!). The cast had game nights and potlucks and trips to the Clam Shack. They went out afterwards to local restaurants. They had bonfires!! And Clay went to all those things. He let Zach tweet a picture of the two of them with Zach's arm around him (and a lobster). That special, magical place made him feel respected and liked. He was welcomed everywhere he went, and that the whole place was excited to have him there. He could go out with friends and family in public and no one bothered him or chased him. All of his reviews were good. No one wrote snide articles about him (not counting the wig and coat stories before the show started). No one asked him intrusive questions. He had a very nice print article with the local media and a GREAT, GREAT TV interview. As far as I know, no one posted a picture of Parker.

After all the crap that Clay has been through, it must have seemed like Heaven (or as many of the cast said, like the best summer camp ever)!! In this experience, he learned he did not have to be a recluse for the rest of his career. That it was possible to have a life partially lived out in public. That he could tweet without it reaching the tabloids. That being Clay Aiken COULD be fun.

So, I'm hopeful this acting gig will lead to bigger and better things. I think it will. But, in my heart of hearts, I do hope he is able to go back to Ogunquit. I would surely go back to see him there, because I've rarely seen him so happy.

And because I thought that the whole Ogunquit experience was pretty darn magical too.

THE END!!!!!!!!
