Nurse Crankypants got fired today.

It wasn't me! I went to the Admin to complain about her attitude and he had just fired her 15 mins before I got there!

Kim - When is Mom coming home. I've always thought patients are treated better when a family member is around a lot. It just seems to make a difference. Your Mom must be so proud of you for giving her so much attention.

Got a REALLY good recipe for you all.  Went to my niece's house today to see my sis and my niece had made a "dump cake" that was DELICIOUS!

Anyway...it's...




Dump Cake

1 can of cherry pie filling
1 can of chopped pineapple ... drain thoroughly
1 box yellow cake mix
2 sticks of melted butter
Chopped pecans (as much as you desire)


Spread the cherry pie filling in a deep baking dish (about 6 cups or so)

Layer the completely drained pineapple over the cherry pie filling

Spread the dry cake mix (just the mix...do not make cake batter) over the pineapple

Pour the melted butter over the top of the cake mix

Add pecans on top

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.

It's SO easy and SO yummy!!!!  Would be great warm with a scoop of ice cream!
I'm going to use no-sugar pie filling (it has Splenda) and pineapple in its own juice to cut some of the sugar.  Don't know if they make cake mix that way or not!

We are shooting for bringin ma home Wednesday Ev.
This place isn't the greatest for patient care. They are understaffed and overbooked. You can call for someone to help and they might not show up for quite awhile if at all. I tried coming home yesterday for a bit to get the house ready for ma's homecoming and she called me to come back because they didn't bring her lunch or come in when she hit the call button. 
Yesterday they had a new fella admitted. He was in his room YELLING for someone to help him go to the bathroom...saying please someone hurry, I really need to go....etc. The nurse in the hallway yelled to the aides..."someone go get him because I might choke him if I go in there"
WHAT!?
I really can't even go to work and be comfortable that she's getting any care so this place isn't helping make anything easier on us. Won't ever recommend it, that's for sure. But the ROOMS are nice. And the REHAB team is excellent. If someone is extremely mobile and doesn't need much help...it'd be fine.

And now I will go get ma her breakfast, coffee, meds, and get her to the pottie....and I'm paying 525 bucks a week for this!
I can do it at home for free!

Off to fitness this morning, then having lunch with Mom.  Tomorrow I'm seeing my Mary's daughter at a dance competion for most of the day!  Gonna have dinner with my aunt and uncle then, they live in the same city!

  Ahhh, Sweet Justice!  Hee!  Sounds like they need to fire more than just her, tho!  Or maybe that was Nurse Crankypants who hollered about possibly choking that fella who had to go potty?? 
How is the rehab going?  Is she still having to wear that back brace for rehab that was waaay too tight?  Or did they find her a bigger size??

Kim- that is horrible. Go ask the administrator for the name of the ombudsman because you want to report the poor treatment and see how fast things change. If he does give you the number, call them and report the facility. They do investigate. Now this was years ago so maybe they don't havve them now, but they used to. Check it out. Google ombudsman and see if they have them in the state of Florida.

Well...I think it stays at the bottom.  I tasted my niece's but it had been frozen in a baggie and was a mess.  lol  But...it tasted GREAT!
